I love how they still use traditional animation work to serve as the foundation of the 3D elements.
01:29 ghosts!!!!
Xxx_niños5control 12345_xxX oh shiit
My right ear enjoyed this.
Not according to your avatar
Christian Christiansen Danke, dummkopff.
I KNEW IT! I knew this comment would exist here.

They're called Maquettes. Modelers can use them to see what the character looks like from all angled before they begin to create the character in 3D
what program do they use to make the 2d storyboards? (animatics?)
Pitch Doctor 2. Its their own In house software.
I love this so much.
saw it a few days ago, i loved it!
Oh how I wish to work for them one day
Does anybody know what program they use for story boarding?
Awesome work, gonna be a great film!
Pitch Doctor 2 i want that software :O
That's awsome
There's hope for me yet!
Sometimes it is easier to sculpt in real clay so artists make lots of models and then scan the best one in 3D. Then they do something called retopo, it's a process where the modeler models proper topology over the scan mesh.
🌈🕊️ Respect to all involved!
Hahahah 🤮
nice
why are they making clay figures if they already have 3D models and drawn key frames?
Cool!
So why do they make these clay models for a 3D movie? Very interesting!!
It's out now
wow look at those board...
1:49
What Software are you using?
Lol my right ear
What program did they use?
its a program that was development internally by pixar. they didnt released it into the public.
guys...I'm studying animation.is there a large chance of getting jobs for me in these studios after my degree?
New Moon Studio well it's not a HUGE chance but with hard work and dedication, I'm sure you can do it! Everyone who makes it big had as much of a chance as you, so don't give up!
It's also the entire plot of Monsters University
1:29 Wtf!!!!!
what major would this be? Degree etc?
animation
do you learn art as well or do you have to take a class for that also?
Quake SRK people usally take classes for art but you dont have to
ok cool
which software do u use to make the 3d characters movie
Render man you can currently download it free
Even in 1.38 thats still render man
+richie kubbzz Pixar uses a lot of their own proprietary software. But they also use Maya (www.autodesk.com/products/maya/overview) for some of their work. However, if you wanted to learn how to do it yourself, I'd recommend blender (www.blender.org), it's simple, very powerful and free!
+richie kubbzz wmm
you can also download the student version of Maya for free. just cant use it commercially and you will always have a pop-up that says "made with a student version" whenever you open one of your files, but otherwise it's the same thing
Does anyone know WHO is the traditional animator connected to the hands shown animating ( paper and pencil) at 2:10 ???
How do u expect anyone to know the name of that person just by their hands
Pretty outdated method. I think most productions switched to sculpting in Zbrush directly.
CGI is quite easier than anime though.....
I wouldn't say that at all. Although Anime is traditionally drawn it isn't fluid like the works of 2d like Disney or the CGI of Pixar. Its just pretty pictures with choppy movement. Most Anime is also animated on the cheap.
It's not
switch the headphones real quick then....
Are they using like Maya or 3Ds Max for modeling and such, or what do they use?
I think they use Maya and their own animation software called "Presto"
DEVIL_PRADA_WS
just incase you get bored animating
my left ear is lonely... =(
tullalio ti animation :v
boo!
