The idea that characters must be "relatable" is completely wrong, warped, and borderline narcissistic. When I watch a movie or show I want to escape. The characters don't need to look like me, act like me or having anything to do with me. In fact the less like me the better, because again, I want to escape.
I've never caught myself thinking that way when watching a movie. "Gee I can identify with Arnold playing the Terminator" "Wow, Luke SkyWalker is a white guy, just like me, awesome, that's soooo cool"

Where are all these "new" fans that they said would replace the "toxic male fans"? How is it possible that the viewings continue to plummet, when there are all the "targetted modern audience" just waiting to see themseves be "represented" in their show? Could it possibly be, that when you make a show for 4% of the total audience 'only' a maximum of 4% of the audience watch it?
Leslie proves she is clueless about Star Wars by saying the episode seven and eight light saber battles will be the greatest. What made Yoda versus Count Dooku, Yoda versus the emperor, and Anakin versus Obi-Wan so great in the prequel series was that these were legendary characters (Plus seeing short-statured Yoda leaping and twisting through the air in Clones was extra special.)
I don't think too many people ever cared about the technical aspects of the light saber battles. Rather, it was what those battles meant to the whole of the Star Wars saga.
The acolyte, on the other hand, seems related to nothing in Star Wars. It doesn't even seem like it's in outer space, which was the original point of Star Wars.

I am 55 and grew up with Star Wars, I WAS a HUGE fan and Disney has intentionally RUINED it, I've stopped watching and will only watch the original tribology, Rogue One and occasionally The Force Awakens. The leadership at Lucas films and Disney should take some direction from the makers of the latest Dune movies. Those movies are incredible and yes, they have strong female characters.
Wants the characters to act and look a certain way? Are they intentionally being this oblivious. The Acolyte is literally created by someone who has made this their personal therapy for her relationship with her sister.

Apparently, "The Acolyte" continues to be an extended widescreen video of an unprepped colonoscopy in high definition and Dolby Atmos. I am still relieved that I immediately cancelled my Disney+ Bundle subscription after watching the first three episodes. I have been reading and watching Star Wars for decades and their amazing diverse history. When George Lucas and his company writers created Star Wars he wanted a diverse group of people and aliens. Which I am sorry to say was not smart selling it to Disney. This ideology and political agenda stuff has only become a thing in the last 5-10 years. George Lucas has thousands of characters from his books, comics, and movies. Actors and Actresses that were Black, Native American, Asian, Indian,Whites, Pacific Islands, Played or voiced Aliens and more.. So why is the race, gender, and sexuality card being played over characters when they at anytime can pull in any of these characters from the thousands in the Star Wars lore.
