Hey all, hope you enjoy Part 2 exploring The Abandoned & Cancelled Disney animations! Similar to what I posted in Part 1, in order to best avoid too many “You forgot about…” comments, I thought I’d quickly share the criteria I used to build this episode:
    1. Had to be a FEATURE LENGTH animated film, as the list of shorts would require an entire series of its own.
    2. Only films that will never see the light of day and that aren’t currently in the works for an alternate version, or were simply reworked into a similar film aside from 1 or 2 exceptions where the story is particularly interesting and rich with history.
    3. Also keep in mind that some "cancelled" Disney Feature Animations just don't have enough history or available visuals to tell a proper story, I include a few quick ones near the end as a "bonus", but some films are just as simple as "Disney almost made (insert here) film...and they didn't", which aren't the stories I am particularly interested in telling, as plenty of "list/top 10" videos have already done that.

I loved it, but the question remains: WHO'S THE MOM?!?! I always thought Walt should've thought of Roger himself back in the thirties or forties as his answer TO Bugs, then there would've been all of the Roger Shorts and he would've been a character at Disneyland from the beginning. I watched a Disneyland Sing-A-Long video from 1990 and he's there with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, and he just fits in so perfectly with them!

The classic 2D look often requires more complicated movements. That's why Disney went with the lumpy looking 3D characters, because they can be moved like the noodle arm characters of the 1920s and 1930s. Also, the backgrounds are easy to make with 3D; especially, when using real locations. As such, they most assuredly sabotaged their 2D studios with The Princess and the Frog, which was obviously worse than Tangled, and used Tangled to move the studios completely into 3D.

And While I'm on the subject, I think a perfect sequel to Roger Rabbit would have taken place in the late 50's, and have Roger and various other toons coping with the advent of television and the death of the theatrical short. “An old, fat, dead movie director?”
You know, it’s very ironic because many people have forgotten what Walt Disney was doing at the time when he made animated films. He made them to compete with some of the big names in film, especially those with live action.
It’s like he wanted to make the Old Hag from “Snow White” be just as scary as Dracula or The Mummy or the Evil Queen’s transformation sequence to be better than the transformation of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at the time.
Or the fact that he wanted to create strength of the whale from “Pinocchio” to be like that of King Kong (1933). Or that he tackled themes in “Fantasia” that do with space, the domination of the dinosaurs, and religious themes that would be seen in live-action such as “Jurassic Park,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” and “The Tree of Life” decades later.
The fact that whoever that executive was that made that comment about Hitchcock seem to forget that’s what Walt, himself, was making at the time.

There's actually a really good, really thorough video essay called "Treasure Planet - Disney's Biggest Mistake" by BREADSWORD on here that breaks down what happened during the making of Treasure Planet, and how it was absolutely gutted by the Disney execs in order to justify shutting down the 2D animation studio once and for all. Long story short, Disney spent a lot of money on making Treasure Planet, and then sabotaged its release through bad marketing, poorly chosen release date, virtually no toys or merchandise, etc. (Side story - I'm lucky enough to own a set of 4 lithograph prints they sold at the theater where I went to see it as a kid, and two of the stills they chose were bad, considering how many beautiful scenes there were.)
When the expensive movie inevitably flopped, the Disney execs turned around and used it as "proof" that they needed to scrap traditional animation and move on. I STRONGLY suggest checking out that video essay, because it is delivered with a great amount of research and care, and really highlights (imo) the distinction between the Disney Company (which is downright evil, for so many other reasons) and the people who are actually working on and making the art we're appreciating here.

“Wildlife” sounds almost exactly like the movie “Sing” with a different plot

As someone who was there for many of these films' development, I have to say, I'm impressed you got as much of this right as you did! I could nitpick little details (you mispronounce a couple of names, like "El-jin", but how would you have known?) and leave out some stuff (but even if you had all the facts, how long do you want this episode to be? Hours??), but I'm thrilled you're helping to bring these films that never were, a few of which I spent years of my life on, into the light of day for a lot of people!
Next you should do an episode on "Sweating Bullets"!

I'm still bummed about the cancellation of Gigantic.
As for the Zootopia easter egg, I think it would be kind of funny to see if Zootopia get another blue-ray addition/update in a few years to retcon "Giraffic" for an animal-based pun about "Raya & Last Dragon".

It’s like Disney is afraid of making new movies from scratch, some of their films now are live action remakes of well known films that no one wanted. These canceled films would have been really interesting to watch if they were released.

*People love to say that it would be better if it were different, but I know that you are all hypocrites, because I know that if it were different you would say the same shit*
