this is surge, not bov. this tu-tu-tu myth needs to stop. NO BOV OR WASTEGATE makes this sound. this is undigested air that tries to counter-spin the turbo and clueless kids all over the net perpetuate the 'coolness' of what is essentially the sound of a turbo being hurt. whenever you hear this sound, it's surge. plain and simple. and unless you got a racing car that has everything replaced or rebuilt after each race, you don't want this sound coming from your engine bay.
how tf you gonna counter spin a 100k+ rpm turbo? unused air passing back through turbo simple as that. if the person is doing it for fun they obviously understand what will happen eventually.
@@lukesmith112 I'm 2 years late but it doesn't counter spin. It CAN'T as the turbo has too much inertia, but it TRIES to counter-spin the turbo. It's like putting your hand in front of a fan. You can try to stop it but you'll hurt both your hand and the blades before it stops
@@aggro_beat It's nothing like putting your hand in a fan, it doesn't even slow the turbo down, people have tested it, there is no difference in turbo speed between running a blow off valve and running none after you lift off the throttle.
Turbo flutter does not hurt the turbo, it's not trying to counter spin the turbo, the only clueless kids are the ones that think that happens, also the sound in this video is a blow off valve.

@@lukesmith112It pushes against the inertia of the turbo which leads to stress on the turbine, wastegates/bovs get rid of that stress.
