  • Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed this 10 minute look at the last year of Cartier Railways big ALCO/MLW locomotives in operation.
    Some went to the NYS&W, then to the WNY&P. A couple to museums.
    Some where scraped on the property, and the prime movers purchased for ships.

    Some use flares to help people find them when their locomotives break down, ALCOs decided smoke signals help you know its working properly!

    Great footage Jack, thanks for sharing those amazing scenes of the Cartier system in its heyday. I’ve got numbers 78 and 79 in HO scale on my layout, they are a handsome pair. God bless you sir.
