Watching this, is like going back in time.
I've gotta say, I'm loving the sound of that fouled K3!
That's a Sandcast K5H up top the #73
This location and many others are included in the Quebec Orelines video volume 1 and the Alco's are featured in both loaded and empty trips to a from the mine to the port on the St. LAwrence. Great videos of the 251's in action.
They sure did sound good Richard. When they were retired, I saw no reason to go back up to that part of the country. Thanks for watching...
Thanks for posting. Scenery is like here in Pocanos👍👍🚂🚂
I carry a small clear trash bag in my camera gear. I leave the open end toward the front so the lense sicks out. It seems primitive, put it works. Thanks for looking. Jack
To answer commenter "munalify"-the 251c is listed at 2750hp.My personal favorites were the Alco c855 and c-855b which had two 251c motors under one hood making 5500hp.
HI
@RailFanDavid The first 3 were Montreal built M630s and the 4th was a C630 from alco. The cab, dynamic brake housing and the exhaust area give the seperation of the builders away.
Units 73,82and 42 was M636 . 73 and 83 was bought new in the 70’. Unit 42 was a former CN unit bought in 1976 in the same time with units 41 - 49 and 86&87 units .
Unit 34 is a C630 bought in 1977 from DMIR 907 ( former Union Pacific 2907) same time with 30 to 39 units .
I was repairman on theses beauties , from 1978 to 1982 .
Good memories of this time !
thanks @jackmp294.5

hey guys , We have some MLW locos MX 615 with Alco 251 engines . is there any way to test the actual HP. We have a Load box (dynanamometer) cant use it . Any ideas???
never heard a Cartier horn until now, sounds like a K5L with wet clay shoved in the horn
LOL. It is different for sure. But I like it. Thanks for watching...
Sounds more like a whistle in my opinion.
And to think they roamed the Proctor area!
munalify, There is an ALCOdiesel yahoo group, with about 1000 members. Maybe someone can help you on there. Thanks for watching, and good luck...
