    Trance = Trail bike
    Trance X = Bigger travel, tweaked geo
    Trance SX = More travel again
    Advanced = Carbon variant
    The number = level of spec (lower the number, higher the spec)

    I have been riding Trances in various iterations for more than a decade. It is a stable and predictable platform that I have enjoyed growing with as a rider. The new bikes offer a honestly bewildering level of adjustment and complication, and riders need to either be highly educated in what these options mean, or have a great working relationship with their lbs. In any event, it's a lot of bike for the money! Looking forward to seeing some of the new Fox hardware on these. keep up the positive reviews, and avoid bumbling into other topics...

      There was a survey a while back asking mountain bikers if they ever try the different flip chip positions and something like 70% of them have never even messed with it

      I think saying need to be highly educated is a bit strong .a chimp given 30 seconds would understand what they do and how to do 4ach adjustments

      I love my 2023 trance x29 with the flip chip on low, and a 180mm fork, geo is all good like that 😂

      @davekal well, you said it right there: stereotype. Don't take any product with such a huge distribution model and say only one type of rider fits here. Any model from any of the big 3 probably finds its way to different rider types. In our area, we have several riders that have chosen giant as a platform for project bikes that get extremely technical.

      @knott4me561 how to make the changes/alterations on the bike... maybe. What they do and how they work in concert with other elements on the bike? I think not.

    Giant (and PinkBike who is spending a full minute repeating press release bs instead of actually putting the damn thing on the scales... like an actual review) claim 40% or 200 g lighter bar/stem combo than... what? A traditional CF bar + AL stem is 280-330 g, costing from 150 €. How much is this thing?

      The curve is linear, but is overall progressive. Largely, in leverage ratios, linear just means flat but has co-opted to mean not progressive. Things that progress at a constant rate without any ramps are progressive, albeit at a linear curve. I hope that helps. Cheers.

    I am so sick of all these bullshit weight savings. A proper built trail bike should be between 32 to 39 lbs. All this usless tech and carbon to get a trail bike under 30 lbs is usless and makes the bike less roboust.
    If you cant handle 32 to 39 lbs, do strength training and build up cardio stamina or buy an E bike.
    All this tech bullshit just to jack up pricing, then these same companies complain they are in financial trouble because people have stopped buying this overpriced crap.
    How about sit on tech and standards for 10 to 15 years so bikes can be affordable so these companies can start making money again. I still see guys on 26er 12 to 20 year old bikes that have no issues keeping up with riders on modern bikes.

      I like 29" XL-XXL trail bikes in the 28-30 lbs range (= 12,7-13,6 kg). No problem building plenty strong bikes to that weight spec.

  • @Liqweed1337
    @Liqweed1337 Před měsícem +1

    too expensive for a bike that still uses a Derailleur (gearbox beltdrives are the future) and has no motor.
    i can get all the mentioned features (pinion E1.12, autoshift, motor, beltdrive, full suspension) for the same 7k € pricetag.

    • @LaurentiusTriarius
      @LaurentiusTriarius Před měsícem +1

      The biggest complaint about the outgoing trance x advanced is the weirdo live valve version, not everyone wants that bullsh*t ... To me no batteries is the way to go and I'm not the only one willing to pay for high end mechanical things 😜
      Not interested in gearbox yet either, complexity sucks in the middle of the forest...

    • @Liqweed1337
      @Liqweed1337 Před měsícem

      @@LaurentiusTriarius you are partially right in my opinion, but regarding the pinion E1.12... the engineers are from PORSCHE, they built a very reliable tech there with their new E1.12 - 10k miles without service! and after 10k miles you just refill oil and you are good to go. its just a different world and soon, when it hits the broad market people will realize. i can instantly tell you why: its a closed system. no dirt, no dust, no nothing. thats why its so reliable (apparently) - we will see!
      and regarding the motor / ebike: i am in team mechanical too, but i must admin, on some days i would like to skip those uphills when riding 😅 ebikes are for those lazy days - ofc a 20-25kg ebike will never have the same feeling as a 13kg mechanical fully bike
      both worlds are nice.
      but i tend to go with the most innovative futuristic tech. my favorite new bike i am watching out for at the moment is the BULLS VUCA EVO AM 1 - great tech & pricetag! (only downside: its on the heavier side, 25kg)

    Man bikes are getting so modular now, soon you wont really be able to review their characteristics because you can make/adjust any bike to your needs.
