  • Well as I promised You, if I found a better copy of a FANTASTIC record I uploaded, I would repost it! Well here it is! LISTEN to the wonderful long Sax solo with trumpets backing after Scrappy Lambert's wonderful vocal! This is among my favorite records! it still has a hiss background, but no craggy loud passages of my last upload this record! I sure hope you will enjoy this one!! The flip side "Summertime Sweethearts" (I put on my wavepad on the first day of summer) coming soon - GOD willing!!

    Exactly the kind of jazz I love and live for. Mid 20s dance music I feel is greatly overlooked when people try and “recreate” the era for films, only ever focusing on the more famous makes of that era like Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, and maybe Paul Whiteman (if you’re lucky). I feel it’d be more accurate to use artists like Bob Haring or Scrappy Lambert in these kinds of productions, probably easier to fat the rights to as well.
    I’m rambling a bit too much, so I’ll just say that this was a rather fun and bouncy tune and I hope to hear more like this. Cheers! (If you’re interested, I’ve also begun posting some of my own finds on my channel).

      Thanks so much! Boy you sure are right in your comment, other super great artist are overlooked for other more very well known artist, not that I do not like the more famous ones like Armstrong, Beiderbecke, and especially Crosby, but this record show cases the greatness of other wonderful talent like Bob Haring and all his musicians! And I appreciate all You said!, so ramble all you wish!!

    Though new to me, this has to be one of my very favorite versions of this song…I like the melody being presented with just enough jazz to make it appealing.

    Bob Haring’s arrangement is fabulous features Scrappy Lambert with the hot brass section “ Dixie Daisy’s “. Thank you Roybo for this sweet recording. 🎶🎺🎶

      It certainly IS fabulous! Even Hotsy!
      This has to be one of the best written 20s syncopated charts, with no jazz solos! The balance back and forth between the brass section and sax sections is perfect, with the tasty sax swing chorus syncopating the melody adroitly, becoming more charming with every succeeding play!

    I already was over the moon when hearing your first upload of this recording, but I agree that the present, sensational rendition sounds even better on this copy! As I said in my other comment, everything is brilliant here. Thank you so much for reposting!

    Interesting to hear this band’s take on the same stock arrangement that the California Ramblers used. Very nice performance and thanks for sharing! 😊

      Thank You so much! I need to go back and listen to the California Ramblers version again, My favorite part of this after the wonderful melody, is the back and forth between the sax and brass - after Scrappy's vocal!!

    where do you find these dimestore gems?!? Seriously! always love collecting dimestore stuff whenever i can! Not long ago i picked up a fred hall pseudonym on velvet tone with irving kaufman! sweetness / the moonlight march, i've uploaded it since i realized it wasn't on youtube, sadly its broken due to bad shipping but im glad i managed to upload it on time! I've gotta get to america sometime to dimestore label hunt!
    Psst *I wonder why bob haring did a pseudonym on lincoln as he used his name on the label in one recording he did of "what! No Women?"*

    • @roybo1930
      @roybo1930  Před 17 dny +2

      Thanks so much! I am not sure why Bob Haring used a pseudonym as Dixie Daisies, I believe Cameo just liked the southern Dixie jazz sound of the name, I would have listed it as "Bob Haring's Dixie Daisies", I usually find my dime store records at 78 rpm record auctions or ebay, hope you have very good luck finding what you want!!
