  • We had low pump pressure problems on our Hayward pool equipment for our ins ground swimming pool. It took me a few stressful days to figure it out. I talk and ramble about it.

    Hey man with your air conditioner condensers right there next to your hard lined pool filter it’s a great opportunity for you to utilize the heat that your air conditioner dumps to heat your pool water. You’ll need an HVAC person to install it but basically it’s a canister that you’re pool water flows through that contains part of the HVAC line. This will make your air conditioner roughly 40 percent more efficient and also passively heat your pool water. The system is about $1800 plus install.

      Seriously?! That's amazing, I just had AC installed and it's just feet from our IG pool equipment. Thanks for the tip!

    Just turned mine on for this season, and I've be scouring the net to find a solution to the same problem, filter pressure low and been hearing air gurgling in the top of the filter yet in resurculation and waste pressure is fine.
    Will double check the gauge when it's light tomorrow!

    I don't think your problem was caused by a bad gauge, even though it may have been bad. They are not supposed to be finger tight. That's the problem, it was sucking air there, reducing pressure. When you put the new one in, your new version of "finger tight" was stronger than the old one, helping it to work right. So if it starts acting up again, perhaps think about snugging it up a little with a small crescent wrench to get a proper seal there. Thank you for sharing this!

    I am checking that pressure gauge tonight. Same exact problem (backwash, rinse, etc) for me, but I don't hear air around the valve. I have brand new fins in my Hayward filter, a new pump I bought yesterday... and water I can't get the green out of. An hour or two after the pump is on, prime is gone.

    Strange you don't have a valve to bleed air out with the gauge.

  • @user-zc6wd4wp9d
    @user-zc6wd4wp9d Před 2 měsíci

    You fixed it but it was 💯 not the gauge. The gauge only reads pressure it does nothing to control it. It may be defective but that would only be a leak or not reading correctly. It would not suck air either. It would just leak.
    You clearly had a flow problem from your description of the check valve flap. I think you fixed with back washing or something else. Like maybe the control valve if you opened it up.
    It was completely coincidental that it was showing good visible pressure after the gauge.
    I think the people saying it fixed their pressure issues actually had a bad gauge reading wrong. The gauge is literally a piece of brass with a tiny hole in it to feel the pressure and move the needle. Nothing at all to control or block water flow.
    Ditch that sand filter for a pleated setup. With your salt system it will nearly be maintenance free 👍🏻

    And just so you know it's absolutely physically impossible for something to be clogged inside those pipes after the pump. On the suction side before the pump absolutely you can suck all kinds of stuff inside that way. But there is no way for anything to make it through the pump basket through the impeller and into those pipes that would be big enough to clog anyting

    Brantley, I really appreciate this tutorial. I am still looking for my problem. it has been 1.5 years now, and I cannot figure out why when I change my 4 cartridge filters, (pentair CP420) do I lose pressure. I have checked everything,. i have also spent thousands on people coming out to look. When I opened my pool this year (someone professionaly came out who is well expereinceed), my pool filter was filling up with water, holding pressure and has been fine. I decided over the weekend to change out my pool filters, did all steps precisely, and not only that, I have now repeated them 4 times. I even cleaned out the old filters and put them back in instead of the new ones and I still dont get water filling up my filter dome and I am only filtering a 1/3 of my filter. I dont know what to do. my pressure gauge doesnt look broke, but I am going to try this now. I would love to speak with you somehow and you give me some advice. This is really frustrating for me. I literally sometimes just want to concrete this pool in but it brings so much joy to my kids.

    Wow you sure worked hard to figure it out! Good for you. I also have some issues with low pressure readings. And I also hear a type of gurgling noise right in the same place you did. Glad you were able to fix the problem. I hope this will fix my low pressure readings. Btw...Your pool looks beautiful.

      My pressure is still good now, long after this video was made. The pressure is low when I first turn the pump on. I hear some gurgling also. It goes away after the system runs for a few minutes.

    Omg can I please re plumb your equipment pad. That's crazy. No valves? Pipes flying through the air. Smh. Another reason to go with a somewhat reputable person or at least somebody that's been in the industry for many years.

    Should have got an automatic pool cover with all those trees it would have been way less maintenance.

    hi i have had a similar problem, but i have no flow light on my aqua rite board. Did you have that as well ? i was told the pressure guages fail. so that may be my next purchase. i am out of options as well

    • @BrantleyBlended
      @BrantleyBlended  Před měsícem

      My no flow light was not on. If you are having a problem with low pressure, it could also be that your system is sucking in air from somewhere around the pump or filter area. There may be a loose fitting, joint, connection, etc.

  • @PoolProjectsRUS
