That's not how inflation works. Overall buying power =/= the price of two individual goods. There are a LOT of factors outside of inflation that affect the prices of individual goods. If the minimum wage kept up with inflation since its inception, it would be only $4.25. HOWEVER, while the value of the dollar hasn't decreased by as much as people think, productivity and cost of living (in particular, housing) have skyrocketed (helped along by the ultra-wealthy skewing median wages), and THAT is why people talk about how the minimum wage should really be around $25/hr.

That's not how inflation works. Overall buying power =/= the price of two individual goods. There are a LOT of factors outside of inflation that affect the prices of individual goods. If the minimum wage kept up with inflation since its inception, it would be only $4.25. HOWEVER, while the value of the dollar hasn't decreased by as much as people think, productivity and cost of living (in particular, housing) have skyrocketed (helped along by the ultra-wealthy skewing median wages), and THAT is why people talk about how the minimum wage should really be around $25/hr.

The average price of goods increases by about $0.0001 per dollar per dollar/hr increase. So, an object that costs $100.00, right now, would cost $100.10 after a $10.00/hr minimum wage increase. And inflation on that small a scale is WELL within the Fed's ability to control.

The ROI (return on investment) on the Build Back Better plan is great. Our defense spending is ridiculous, but it's not relevant, the BBB plan can and should be promoted on it's own merits, the fact that close analysis of the plan shows that it will encourage long-term economic growth and stability. It's a literal case of spending money to make money and you'd think that the more capitalistic right wing would understand that.
