The Great Gatsby... Moby Dick... 100 years of solitude... "I have other copiES of that one" How many copies does one need? XD If someone judges you for keeping the Goosebump book, they don't have their priorities straight if you ask me! A manga biography of Gandhi? I didn't even know I needed that in my life. Such a massive unhaul - you've done SO WELL!!!! Kudos! That must feel good - do you feel light as a feather after letting go of all those books? I'm sure I would!
I saw some good ones fly past but the library probably has them all if you ever get interested again. Wait, the hardcover of Harriet the Spy..... and if that was Atkinson's Life After Life, that's a great novel. This was very fun!
I have been unhauling books before a move. Parting with books always feels like Eustace getting de-dragoned in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Like a big ole lion peeled off a layer of my hide.
Wow, but this made me anxious, lol! I was voting for some of the rejects to stay in the keep pile, but applaud your ability to get rid of as many as you did. I can't do it! I need to learn how!
There is no such person as a book horder if you are getting books for your collection. There was only one book that I would add to my collection, (Classic Slave Narratives) and three that I have (Children, Hidden Figures, and Anti-Racist Baby). I can see why you are getting rid of those books. Glad to see you back.
Think you made some wise cuts (aside from maybe Harriet the Spy lol). The argument COULD be made, if they're in storage, not your shelves, are they keepers at all? Always hard to let go tho. I've found the best way (for me) to avoid overloading my shelves, and not waffling about unhauling books, was to develop a rule systems for what I keep and what I don't (In my case 3 rules, books must meet at least 2 to stay). Takes a lot of pressure, time and debate off the process, and I make the decision as I go.
Unhauls are so satisfying! And like any good unhaul, sometimes we have to pull a couple out of the bags and save them! 😊
