  • Was the Reformation debate over justification by faith alone a tempest in a teapot? There are many today who think so, many who argue that the Reformation is over. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul will explain why the Reformers spoke of justification by faith alone as the article on which the church stands or falls, and why we are never to compromise on this essential truth of the Christian faith.

We need this kind of teaching today as much as was needed in Luther’s day.

Few pastors today places emphasis on article of Justification by Faith Alone as the only ground of salvation as does R.C.Sproul! Never heard this Gospel preached so clearly in my local church I have attended for over 60 years!

Thank you, I feel so humble, for hearing this gospel, although I am Calvinistic, I just realized how deep I'd fallen. Thank you, oh Holy Lord, for lending R.C. to teach us Your true Word. ❤

Why is it always Luther tells us. Calvin tells us. Augustine tells us. Why is it not the Bible tells us. God's holy word's tell us. Scripture tells us? I' m just asking for a friend.

Like what someone said, many such people are sanctified, justified, and petrified. Preachers would do better if they preached Jesus in words and deeds, instead of being obsessed with Luther.

How sad. A man of God clinging desperately to Luther's misunderstanding of St Paul's doctrine of justification. Great (evangelical) Anglican theologian N. T(om) Wright revisited the hoary old debate about Faith and Works, the cornerstone of the Protestant Reformation, from the point of view of a devout first-century Jew, which is what Paul was, and realised - horror of horrors - that Luther had almost certainly misinterpreted Paul, that he did not really grasp where he was coming from. In fact, Wright's conclusions are closer to those of the Counter-Reformation Council of Trent than to those of the Protestant Reformers.
The cornerstone of the Church isn't the faulty interpretation of parts of Sacred Scripture by one Father Martin Luther. It is, thank God, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ Himself.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
      John 6:44 ESV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
      Romans 5:1 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."
      Romans 10:9-11 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Justification by faith alone is the article that some are very happy and thankful about, and some hate it. To think that one has earned heaven by some good work(s) is to be ignorant of what God requires to be able to enter in heaven! Only Christ was able to enter, and he is the ONLY one that can make it posible for us too.
