I was kinda disappointed on Necalli for sure. Thought he was gonna be a direct challenge then Bison or Akuma. But instead being the entity of the Aztec gods, he was treated like punching bag. WTF Capcom.
Only thing I disagree on is Kotal Khan. I never saw him as another Shao Khan. He was a leader who truly cared about his realm to the point he allied with Shinnok in hopes his realm would be spared. He never cared about invading other realms like his predecessor and the only reason he became leader was because he saw Mileena as a weak and unworthy leader. Also he was willing to allow Earthrealm aid him while Shao Khan would never had allies, just those who'd pledge there allegiance to him. He's a complex and a great addition to the MK lore

Dhalsim tanking that blow is way worse than it first seems. Ryu is overtaken by the Satsui no Hado. Let's not forget what that means; *Murderer's intent!* That was a killing blow from Ryu, right to the liver. Any liver blow would down a normal human being flat out and cause most to pass out. But a killing blow straight to the liver after being amped up by Dark Hado? That's bullshit! That's Hogan levels of no selling.
Lmao necalli in sf5's story mode bothered me as his contribution to the story made no sense. Also, Ryu showing up suddenly to beat M.Bison didn't make much sense either.

Yea they honestly weren't able to write great stories then, only some characters like Urien and Rashid were awesome, and they didn't show Ryu's special training - he just appeared as a Superman to one shot two final bosses, but now it seems the level of their writing has improved. I mean after checking Season 2 prologue stories of Akuma, Kolin and Ed, I was like "Really good story. What were they thinking before?", Zeku's story is also notable since it establishes Strider and SF take place in the same Universe. Menat's one isn't bad either.
Game flopped hard but to me Akuma had the beat story he possibly killed Gen and I hope killed Necalli and he still kicked Ryu's ass while he have the power of nothingness Akuma was well done Kolin I feel she have the deepest story out of all the characters and I wish she didn't only defeated Guile, Ed story it was good her relationship with Balrog was decent and showed how Ed was aging rapidly and Bison soul try possessing him he was decent, Abigail is a mess, Menat I somewhat expected her story to be more I did like the Oro cameo and we see her fight with Ed and Zeku basically is just Strider's ancestor probably.
A ancient consuming spirit who's trash get his ass Woop Akuma probably did kill him but we have yet to see if he pops back up in Falke, Cody, G and Sagat stories he most likely will return to get drag again and I thought he be the next most strongest character in Street Fighter joining the likes of Akuma or Oro or Ingrid.
Attempt #4 to post a comment: Capcom wrote a deep post-story mode story for F.A.N.G in the CFN website, which was amazing. Don't you think they'll be able to do the same with Necalli? Considering the official correlation chart doesn't say that Necalli is dead or even that his status is unknown. Akuma can't kill an entity of Aztec Gods just by exploding his belly.
Ogre wiped the floor with the entirety T2 cast defeating Wang, Beak and even Jun none of the mentioned appeared in T3 he's on way higher level than kotal and Necalli
Ogre solos. After absorbing Heihachi's power, he literally became the most powerful being in the Tekken 3 Universe, only outclassed by Jin Kazama, the same overpowered guy who is a mix of Kazama & Mishima bloodlines.
You know who actually disappointed me. My favorite character Juri. She was just cammy's stalker girlfriend. After her ssfiv prolouge and arcade mode made her so op that she beats chun li, guile, cammy, all the dolls, kills Seth, and fight bison to a draw. I wanted her to fight ryu or ken so bad but instead she beats up rashiid, draws with vega (twice i think) and is just around after that
Damn it! Necalli had so much potential from the start, it's like ruining a hyped Finn Balor in just a few weeks and poof. and it's even harsher for me think that he now fits more of a filler character from any movie animes than an actual character. Feel bad for him...really really bad.
As a Charlie Nash fan, I was about to rip into you, but then you mentioned how the only problem was how they handled his story and I must say, I agree 100000%. HE should have been the one to kill Bison. Ryu literally had no reason to be there. He has no beef with Bison in the slightest. He has more beef with Sagat and Akuma more than Bison. The only people who REALLY had beef with Bison were all cast to the side (Cammy, Chun-Li, Guile, Nash) for Ryu JUST because he's the poster boy. They should've focused more on developing Ryu vs. Necalli & Nash vs. Bison.
Crazy 100: There's one problem - albeit Bison is immortal, his immortality is limited. He still gets old, hence the gray hair in SFV. Necalli is Bison's perfect avatar, if Bison takes over him, he'll become an everlasting spirit, that's why Bison was shown to be so interested in him three times in the same game. But Bison also wants Necalli to be pretty strong, not just immortal, hence why he didn't let him devour him in A Shadow Falls. They might develop this when they introduce Necalli's new darker form.
Technically speaking, corrupted Shinnok is not new. Shinnok did transformed into a demon monster very similarly to this in Mortal Kombat Mythologies at the end when Sub Zero (Bi Han) stole the amulet from him.
I would have to disagree with a small tidbit with the information you said about Dhalsim during your Necalli rant. In Game, Dhalsim is not a top tier character, but in story, he's supposed to be like the wise old man trope of the SF universe. So, Dhalsim being able to take a punch from a not-entirely influenced, Satsui no Hado Ryu is somewhat believable.
Nah that's still not believable, there was no establishment of him having that kind of power whatsoever so him tanking that is still bs. If it was oro than it's an entirely different story.
I thought I was the ONLY one that thought Nash should've gotten the win on Bison. That battle should've been five or six parts long. As for Necalli, every point you made was perfect. He should've been a horrific terrible force of nature given his purpose in the story. I would've opted to introduce him in the "Fall of Shadoloo" story arc but give him his entirely own story arc (The Devourer) and have him terrorize the world, it will alert the surviving members of the last story. Different people from the cast will encounter him, get wrecked, then warn the others that this monster is insane! Eventually confronting Dhalsim and, essentially, absorbing him. The reason he is so powerful is because he absorbed Bison shortly after his "death" in the other story. Now with the two other powers it's all up to Ryu to save everyone. All the while, not succumbing to the Satsui No Hado.This battle should be another 4 or 5 parts long. Each fight Ryu gets stronger and smarter on how to beat him and at one point "release" dhalsim thus weakening him. One more time unwillingly releasing Bison to bring him back to regular form Necalli. Both on their last legs they fight one more time and Ryu delivers the final blow destroying Necalli. Problem solved, world saved, Ryu becomes a world renowned hero, but at the same time, Necalli is remembered as an insane and scary power absorbing monster that can cause true terror on a global level alone, that rekt the entire cast, absorbed Dhalsim, and even drew Ryu to the edge. That's what I thought Necalli was going to be atleast. Anyways, this video was actually insightful and not fanboy rubbish. Many valid points.
Rasheed Lindsey Nash would make more sense to have a win against M.Bison since he has more of a grudge and hatred for him. RYU DOES TOO A BIT but they should have gave Nash some spot light.
Precisely! Too bring him back from the dead all cool and what not, to have him sacrifice himself again just to have Bison walk it off as if it's nothing was really a huge downer. Then to have that poster boy Ryu take the win for BOTH Bison and Necalli was a just a terrible route to go. If at anything, Guile could've grabbed the Bison "W", I would've been sort of okay with that or even Cammy or Chun-Li.
The Dhalsim Ryu Necali thing i liked. You underestimate Dhalsim. He is a master, and a master in more than just fighting, and characters are known to hold back in battle (Oro) due to morals. He is the perfect person to seek for all things dealing with spirituality and Gods as well. The power spike really happens in SF3 which happens after this. possibly way after this.
Ok, I have a possible theory about the Revenants. They were more likely stronger than before and the ones that beat them barely did so or got stronger than before. When Sonya took on and beat the Revenant versions of Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Jax, but keep in mind, she got help from Johnny Cage, and last time Sonya fought the Revenant Jax, The undead major defeated her with ease. Also, the Revenants have done some feats before. The Revenant Kuai Liang killed two Special Forces soldiers with ease and one time, froze a crowd of them in one Ice Blast and Scorpion, had done impressive feats in his MK9 Chapter and killed a couple of Special Forces with ease and engaged with Kenshi Takahashi.
I think people got disappointed by necalli cause they thought he was a akuma replacement. but I don't think he was ever intended to be a akuma replacement, he was intended to be a EVIL RYU replacement.

I know i'm late but let me correct you a bit. Johnny's ancestors were bred and trained by the gods to be their warriors not bred to defeat gods. Even then Cassie defeating Shinnok in his corrupted form is a total bullshit since she's an amateur who couldn't defeat Sub-Zero who held back against her and her friends, she also couldn't defeat Ferra/Torr and Tanya. Johnny is a lot more experienced than her and he couldn't knock regular Shinnok out he could only distract the latter long enough for Raiden to seal Shinnok in his own amulet. It's like saying Rain could defeat Kamidogu powered Onaga one on one just because he has Argus' blood in him.
I'd say Kotal is disappointing to me because in the comics he seemed like a bad ass, kicking ass and taking names. He wasn't the next Shao-Kahn, he was actually fairly decent as a ruler, people WANTED him to rule and so it was like "What if Shao-Kahn wasn't a dick" pretty much. He is so powerful that he is worshiped as a god in Earth Realm and he humiliates Goro, he's a bad ass and a pretty interesting character. What do we get in the games? Tricked by Kano and seems surprised by this (I am pretty sure Kano showed he was untrustworthy to Kotal before so he shouldn't be shocked), tricked by D'Vorah and stupidly assumes she must be helping the Earthrealmers, gets beat by Kung-Jin, acts like he's honorable and yet he betrays them first chance he gets and he is so stupid he couldn't tell that Earthrealm was being corrupted and when he finds out his first thought is to grovel to Shinnok in hopes he can save himself. Where did the bad ass, good guy Kahn go? Why are we left with this traitorous dumbass who jobs to someone who hasn't even shown a fraction of Liu-Kang or Kung-Lao levels of power and skill? I also feel this way about D'Vorah, I liked how she seemed completely loyal to Kotal, a villain that wasn't a traitorous asshole, she actually respected him and would give her life for him...except apparently not, she works for Shinnok for some reason..except apparently not as well as her ending implies she just wanted to make immortal bug people out of Shinnok so D'Vorah is the exact same as the other villains, a traitor that no one can trust. MKX didn't give any of the new characters that much justice, they either didn't do much, were jobbers or Mary Sues.
Charlie comes back and dies again. Typical. What was the point? To satisfy fans who used to play him? Um… nobody wanted him back. We were fine with Guile.
The reason Dhalsim was able to tank the punch from evil Ryu is because he was learning the power of nothingness. It cam counter evil energies. That's also why Necalli couldn't absorb Ryu in the rematch. Ryu had been learning the power of nothingness which is why he could beat Necalli the second time and why Dhalsim could draw with him.
Necalli had so much potential, the potential to be one of the heavy hitters of the series, with the likes of Oro, and akuma but it’s unfortunately wasted. Hope we see far better showings for him in the future
I can only agree with everything you said. If both cases, not only the story mode was poorly written and utterly disappointing, but the newcomers were most of them pretty lame (this also applies to Tekken 7, actually). Sad. :/
Definitely agree with Charlie and Necalli. Especially charlie, it pissed me off so much the way they did him in story mode. HE should have been the one to take down Bison, or at LEAST Guile NOT Ryu. But apparently Capcom hates charlie so they couldnt let that happen, instead he just gets his ass kicked left and right all throughout story mode.
You know, Before SFV came out I was actually really excited for Necalli. Thus I was really disappointed when the story mode came out. And not just because of Necalli because Nash could have been the one to beat Bison, instead the poster boy Ryu stole the show that he didn't even need in this story mode. So many things could have happened to make more memorable moments then Nash and Bison dying.

Yeah, I agreed, the Revenants should not have been Revenants. If they made Sub Zero or Scorpion Revenants, I don't think I would have any complaints since they were once just side characters to the main villain. It's just Ed Boon loves Scorpion, so we got what we got. And Cassie Cage as the savior... nope. She's interesting, but not as a main character.

I actually do sort of like the MK X Story, but they made some bad parts that shouldn´t have been even even made, like KK suddenly betraying Earthrealm to "Protect" his realm, which ruins his entire character of being more Honourable than SK and started a chain of events that hurted the story harder than Scorpoin´s revenge.
Okay here are my opinions and note they are entirely just me so people can disagree but I do want to poitb out some stuff about your list. Not to say you are wrong but just explaining some things. Kotal Kahn: I believe was supposed to not be just another Shao Kahn, instead he is a new ruler that actually cares for outworld heavily. Kotal isnt meant to be a replacement but more of a way to see that not all rulers have to be just conquerors but instead fair rulers for his/her realm. Reventants: Yes they are weak and wasted but remember they are powered by Quan Chi and so far Quan Chi is losing power in a span of 25 years! So meaning that the Revenants arent in full power and can be defeated by the new people like Cassie, Takeda, Jaqqui, and Takeda. So putting the power loss into perspective then the reventants must be weakened or just didnt have enough power left because of Quan Chis demise. Shinnok: Okay yes it IS complete BS but we see that Cassie and her team arent a bunch of noobs since in the comics we see them actually put up some fights and stuff. Like with the blood ritual granted Cassie was controlled and powered......anyways it shows just how the Green Halo power can just be used to defeat gods which is good and bad. Good since it means it can be used to defeat a future MK villain (Onaga or Raiden) bad because it's just plot armor. Necalli: Yes and could've been used SO much more but instead became just this weird muck monster. Maybe this is good news but at least he made Ryu get the power of nothingness quicker? Nash: 100% Agree, Nash should've taken Bison down instead of Ryu. It was Nashs fight and NOT Ryus, just seeing Nash not get what he deserved was really bad and I wish it could be different. This game was supposed to be legendary which inspired other titles and games giving this game the greatest of justice making it a badass, but what they do is make it out to be a joke of a game, not even funny. They honestly had no vision for this game but make it a fighter. Honestly forced the shine onto ryu instead of making the other characters true badasses. This makes me cry because I really would bought a ps4 because of this.

Yea they honestly weren't able to write great stories then, only some characters like Urien and Rashid were awesome, and they didn't show Ryu's special training - he just appeared as a Superman to one shot two final bosses, but now it seems the level of their writing has improved. I mean after checking Season 2 prologue stories of Akuma, Kolin and Ed, I was like "Really good story. What were they thinking before?", Zeku's story is also notable since it establishes Strider and SF take place in the same Universe. Menat's one isn't bad either.
Game flopped hard but to me Akuma had the beat story he possibly killed Gen and I hope killed Necalli and he still kicked Ryu's ass while he have the power of nothingness Akuma was well done Kolin I feel she have the deepest story out of all the characters and I wish she didn't only defeated Guile, Ed story it was good her relationship with Balrog was decent and showed how Ed was aging rapidly and Bison soul try possessing him he was decent, Abigail is a mess, Menat I somewhat expected her story to be more I did like the Oro cameo and we see her fight with Ed and Zeku basically is just Strider's ancestor probably.

You know who actually disappointed me. My favorite character Juri. She was just cammy's stalker girlfriend. After her ssfiv prolouge and arcade mode made her so op that she beats chun li, guile, cammy, all the dolls, kills Seth, and fight bison to a draw. I wanted her to fight ryu or ken so bad but instead she beats up rashiid, draws with vega (twice i think) and is just around after that

As a Charlie Nash fan, I was about to rip into you, but then you mentioned how the only problem was how they handled his story and I must say, I agree 100000%. HE should have been the one to kill Bison. Ryu literally had no reason to be there. He has no beef with Bison in the slightest. He has more beef with Sagat and Akuma more than Bison. The only people who REALLY had beef with Bison were all cast to the side (Cammy, Chun-Li, Guile, Nash) for Ryu JUST because he's the poster boy. They should've focused more on developing Ryu vs. Necalli & Nash vs. Bison.

Crazy 100: There's one problem - albeit Bison is immortal, his immortality is limited. He still gets old, hence the gray hair in SFV. Necalli is Bison's perfect avatar, if Bison takes over him, he'll become an everlasting spirit, that's why Bison was shown to be so interested in him three times in the same game. But Bison also wants Necalli to be pretty strong, not just immortal, hence why he didn't let him devour him in A Shadow Falls. They might develop this when they introduce Necalli's new darker form.

Technically speaking, corrupted Shinnok is not new. Shinnok did transformed into a demon monster very similarly to this in Mortal Kombat Mythologies at the end when Sub Zero (Bi Han) stole the amulet from him.
I would have to disagree with a small tidbit with the information you said about Dhalsim during your Necalli rant. In Game, Dhalsim is not a top tier character, but in story, he's supposed to be like the wise old man trope of the SF universe. So, Dhalsim being able to take a punch from a not-entirely influenced, Satsui no Hado Ryu is somewhat believable.

I thought I was the ONLY one that thought Nash should've gotten the win on Bison. That battle should've been five or six parts long. As for Necalli, every point you made was perfect. He should've been a horrific terrible force of nature given his purpose in the story. I would've opted to introduce him in the "Fall of Shadoloo" story arc but give him his entirely own story arc (The Devourer) and have him terrorize the world, it will alert the surviving members of the last story. Different people from the cast will encounter him, get wrecked, then warn the others that this monster is insane! Eventually confronting Dhalsim and, essentially, absorbing him. The reason he is so powerful is because he absorbed Bison shortly after his "death" in the other story. Now with the two other powers it's all up to Ryu to save everyone. All the while, not succumbing to the Satsui No Hado.This battle should be another 4 or 5 parts long. Each fight Ryu gets stronger and smarter on how to beat him and at one point "release" dhalsim thus weakening him. One more time unwillingly releasing Bison to bring him back to regular form Necalli. Both on their last legs they fight one more time and Ryu delivers the final blow destroying Necalli. Problem solved, world saved, Ryu becomes a world renowned hero, but at the same time, Necalli is remembered as an insane and scary power absorbing monster that can cause true terror on a global level alone, that rekt the entire cast, absorbed Dhalsim, and even drew Ryu to the edge.
That's what I thought Necalli was going to be atleast. Anyways, this video was actually insightful and not fanboy rubbish. Many valid points.
Rasheed Lindsey Nash would make more sense to have a win against M.Bison since he has more of a grudge and hatred for him. RYU DOES TOO A BIT but they should have gave Nash some spot light.
Precisely! Too bring him back from the dead all cool and what not, to have him sacrifice himself again just to have Bison walk it off as if it's nothing was really a huge downer. Then to have that poster boy Ryu take the win for BOTH Bison and Necalli was a just a terrible route to go. The Dhalsim Ryu Necali thing i liked. You underestimate Dhalsim. He is a master, and a master in more than just fighting, and characters are known to hold back in battle (Oro) due to morals. He is the perfect person to seek for all things dealing with spirituality and Gods as well. The power spike really happens in SF3 which happens after this. possibly way after this.
Ok, I have a possible theory about the Revenants.
They were more likely stronger than before and the ones that beat them barely did so or got stronger than before. When Sonya took on and beat the Revenant versions of Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Jax, but keep in mind, she got help from Johnny Cage, and last time Sonya fought the Revenant Jax, The undead major defeated her with ease. Also, the Revenants have done some feats before. The Revenant Kuai Liang killed two Special Forces soldiers with ease and one time, froze a crowd of them in one Ice Blast and Scorpion, had done impressive feats in his MK9 Chapter and killed a couple of Special Forces with ease and engaged with Kenshi Takahashi.

I know i'm late but let me correct you a bit. Johnny's ancestors were bred and trained by the gods to be their warriors not bred to defeat gods. Even then Cassie defeating Shinnok in his corrupted form is a total bullshit since she's an amateur who couldn't defeat Sub-Zero who held back against her and her friends, she also couldn't defeat Ferra/Torr and Tanya. Johnny is a lot more experienced than her and he couldn't knock regular Shinnok out he could only distract the latter long enough for Raiden to seal Shinnok in his own amulet. It's like saying Rain could defeat Kamidogu powered Onaga one on one just because he has Argus' blood in him.

I'd say Kotal is disappointing to me because in the comics he seemed like a bad ass, kicking ass and taking names. He wasn't the next Shao-Kahn, he was actually fairly decent as a ruler, people WANTED him to rule and so it was like "What if Shao-Kahn wasn't a dick" pretty much. He is so powerful that he is worshiped as a god in Earth Realm and he humiliates Goro, he's a bad ass and a pretty interesting character. What do we get in the games? Tricked by Kano and seems surprised by this (I am pretty sure Kano showed he was untrustworthy to Kotal before so he shouldn't be shocked), tricked by D'Vorah and stupidly assumes she must be helping the Earthrealmers, gets beat by Kung-Jin, acts like he's honorable and yet he betrays them first chance he gets and he is so stupid he couldn't tell that Earthrealm was being corrupted and when he finds out his first thought is to grovel to Shinnok in hopes he can save himself. Where did the bad ass, good guy Kahn go? Why are we left with this traitorous dumbass who jobs to someone who hasn't even shown a fraction of Liu-Kang or Kung-Lao levels of power and skill? I also feel this way about D'Vorah, I liked how she seemed completely loyal to Kotal, a villain that wasn't a traitorous asshole, she actually respected him and would give her life for him...except apparently not, she works for Shinnok for some reason..except apparently not as well as her ending implies she just wanted to make immortal bug people out of Shinnok so D'Vorah is the exact same as the other villains, a traitor that no one can trust. MKX didn't give any of the new characters that much justice, they either didn't do much, were jobbers or Mary Sues.

That's also why Necalli couldn't absorb Ryu in the rematch. Ryu had been learning the power of nothingness which is why he could beat Necalli the second time and why Dhalsim could draw with him.

You know, Before SFV came out I was actually really excited for Necalli. Thus I was really disappointed when the story mode came out. And not just because of Necalli because Nash could have been the one to beat Bison, instead the poster boy Ryu stole the show that he didn't even need in this story mode. So many things could have happened to make more memorable moments then Nash and Bison dying.

If they made Sub Zero or Scorpion Revenants, I don't think I would have any complaints since they were once just side characters to the main villain. It's just Ed Boon loves Scorpion, so we got what we got. And Cassie Cage as the savior... nope. She's interesting, but not as a main character.

I actually do sort of like the MK X Story, but they made some bad parts that shouldn´t have been even even made, like KK suddenly betraying Earthrealm to "Protect" his realm, which ruins his entire character of being more Honourable than SK and started a chain of events that hurted the story harder than Scorpoin´s revenge.
Dhalsim is older and stronger. Plus, he's spongy.

Okay here are my opinions and note they are entirely just me so people can disagree but I do want to poitb out some stuff about your list. Not to say you are wrong but just explaining some things.
Kotal Kahn: I believe was supposed to not be just another Shao Kahn, instead he is a new ruler that actually cares for outworld heavily. Kotal isnt meant to be a replacement but more of a way to see that not all rulers have to be just conquerors but instead fair rulers for his/her realm.
Reventants: Yes they are weak and wasted but remember they are powered by Quan Chi and so far Quan Chi is losing power in a span of 25 years! So meaning that the Revenants arent in full power and can be defeated by the new people like Cassie, Takeda, Jaqqui, and Takeda. So putting the power loss into perspective then the reventants must be weakened or just didnt have enough power left because of Quan Chis demise.
Shinnok: Okay yes it IS complete BS but we see that Cassie and her team arent a bunch of noobs since in the comics we see them actually put up some fights and stuff. Like with the blood ritual granted Cassie was controlled and powered......anyways it shows just how the Green Halo power can just be used to defeat gods which is good and bad. Good since it means it can be used to defeat a future MK villain (Onaga or Raiden) bad because it's just plot armor.
Necalli: Yes and could've been used SO much more but instead became just this weird muck monster. Maybe this is good news but at least he made Ryu get the power of nothingness quicker?
Nash: 100% Agree, Nash should've taken Bison down instead of Ryu. It was Nashs fight and NOT Ryus, just seeing Nash not get what he deserved was really bad and I wish it could be different.

This game was supposed to be legendary which inspired other titles and games giving this game the greatest of justice making it a badass, but what they do is make it out to be a joke of a game, not even funny. They honestly had no vision for this game but make it a fighter. Honestly forced the shine onto ryu instead of making the other characters true badasses. This makes me cry because I really would bought a ps4 because of this.
