    I had a couple of 6Rs at the same time. Thank you very much for making this programmer. I’m glad to see that the enthusiasm and the support behind this vintage yet incomplete synthesizer is still moving forward. Would a total rewrite of the firmware mitigate all problems 100%? I know the two firmware’s that are on the market right now we’re sort of reversed engineered. What if somebody just rewrote the firmware completely?

      Oh I just assembled a kit I got from stereoping. I imagine you need a kiwi style mod to fix the issues inherent in the Matrix. I think it mostly boils down to just how slow the processor is, not so much the firmware.

    the matrix 6 is my fav synth out of about 20 vintage synths. and the lack of real time control actually made it more awesome because you had to really "feel" the synth and spend a lot of hours on one sound, but in the end, it is like nothing else. sadly , one day it started smoking and the screen went wacky and no sound, so I sold it as a fixer for almost nothing.. I would really like to get one with this programer.. if you understand how the matrix on that works, then you can get the most epic sounds out of it..

      Mine has died a few times. It's usually just a matter of popping some new multiplexers in. For some reason they seem to burn out. Mine is actually not working currently, but I'll get it fixed it up soon.

    This question might be stupid, but how do I connect my sequencer and the Stereoping to my Matrix 1000 at the same time when the Matrix has only one Midi input? Thanks a lot!

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před 4 lety +1

      The stereoping controller is hooked up between the sequencer and the Matrix, and passes your midi keyboard/sequencer data through. It also converts midi cc data to midi sysex that the matrix understands, allowing you to automate parameters from your daw or sequencer with CCs.

      Hallo! Glücklich mit der Matrix 1000? Plane eine zu kaufen. Ich habe bedenken, weil es mono ist. Wie ist der Sound? Ein wenig chorus, delay, reverb machen es ordentlich "stereo" klingen?

  • @cockur
    @cockur Před 4 lety

    Ok so if I was looking to record the stereo outputs of the Matrix 6 whilst programming it from a midi sequencer (a midi arpeggiator perhaps) and modulate a few parameters via the Stereoping controller, I would still have to deal with hung notes? Meaning it would not be possible to get a solid recording? Asking because I was seriously looking into getting one

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před 4 lety +1

      It largely depends on the parameters you are modulating. Most of the envelope parameters cause it to hang. The filter cutoff and amount seem fine. This controller has been a huge quality of life improvement for me when programming the Matrix, which to me is the big selling point. But the controller can't fix the glitches, the Matrix is just too old to handle the data stream.

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před rokem +2

      That noise is actually from a guitar amp I forgot to turn off before recording and I was too lazy to go back and redo everything. These days my matrix makes zero noise, or sound in general as I need to repair it. I think I blew an opamp near the output 🙃

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před rokem

      @@M80- I imagine that would be due to some components that are getting near their end of life. The last time I had my matrix repaired it had been getting lower in volume over time until it stopped working. Took it in and got it recapped along with some new opamps and a new mux, and it came back sounding way better than I had ever heard it. With something that old, I'd suspect the caps first.

      OMG you guys can’t use google… the alpes controller can control up to 4 synths at once, has a cv in to trigger the built in arp or sequencer is much cheaper, based on arduino, can be built as a kit, looks better, has more controls, has the ability to be remote mounted with less cables, is from France, basically can control MANY more parameter from knobs, buttons due to shift function.

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před 4 lety

      You have more than one, lucky. No, I don't think that would work. Well, if you split the midi you might be able to hack it together but it would really just be unison mode...Or run them hard left and right for real stereo. That would be rad, but very much a hack.

    • @jonaskeusch

      @@InflatableRobot Thanks for your answer. Yes I do own a M6R and a M1000. I actually use them panned 9 o clock / 3 o clock and one of the Matrixes just ever so slightly detuned. The sound is incerdible, much fatter, doesnt sound like that ugly unison sound at all. Its very close to the Matrix12.
      I was just wondering if this Controller can make it a 12 voice Matrix while stille editing patches. But I guess thats a no from you.
      I have a Alpesmachines Matrix CTRLR. They say it should be possible, but I havent figured out how yet.
      Anyway. Thanks for the great video and keep on making music! :)

    • @InflatableRobot
      @InflatableRobot  Před 4 lety

      Oh damn, I bet that sounds so good. So when you set up the controller, you have to select your device and it's firmware. I know that the M1k has a firmware bug that makes it not respond to some envelope value. I imagine the controller gets around this issue by sending the whole patch, the same way it handles the mod matrix values. Since the two machines accept the same patches it may work but I don't know if the sysex addresses for all parameters are the same for both machines.

    • @jonaskeusch
      @jonaskeusch Před 4 lety

      @@InflatableRobot As far as I know you are right, the CTRLR sends the whole patch. Fun thing is, I have my M1K connected to the MidiThru of the M6R, thats why they both receive the patch from the CTRLR. It works perfectly. The only thing which is a tiny bit different is the LFO. Somehow the M1Ks LFO is a bit slower or faster than the M6Rs LFO even when dialing in the exact same value. Apart from that they work pretty much identical. Maybe this only works with the Alpesmachines CTRL and not with the Stereoping. I dont know.
      Bottom line: If you can grab a second M6R or a M1K go for it. It is a big uprage when panning L / R.
