  • Dawson City, Yukon, is a town about a six-hour drive north of Whitehorse. Tr'ondek Hwech'in First Nation is based here. The community has a population of 2,297, according to the Yukon Bureau of Statistics.
This video was shot during the COVID-19 pandemic; I was told that the community would have been much busier otherwise. It's said to be a great place to party and whatnot - a Las Vegas of the North (of sorts).
    Shot on a Google Pixel 4 XL in #DawsonCity, #Yukon, on June 20, 22, and 23, 2020. #TrondekHwechin

A good video that prompted many memories as I haven't been there since 1978 when I was living in Whitehorse. The overall maintenance of the place is incredible for the most part with lots of old buildings I recognized, although with new paint and some new names on them. Didn't see Flora Dora's so hope it is still there as that was the old stay over place. Thanks for capturing and posting the video.

Brought back so many memories of the time I enjoyed in Dawson City. All the landmarks, The Slide Scar on the mountain and various businesses are still there. Plus, I remember sitting in the Park transfixed by the mighty Yukon. What a summer that was.

I've been there 4 times and will probably have to go back soon. I expect that the lack of active people is the weather because in all the times I have been there it is a very busy place....plenty of tourists from all over the world.
3 times on a motorcycle and last summer in a van. I live just north of Toronto and love the adventure.

Watching a Blu-Ray called Dawson City Frozen Time , which was about silent films being found buried in the ground and also it gave the history of Dawson City, has led me to this video. Your video is excellent.

I had 17 years under my belt when I spent a sunny afternoon in 79 there buying Booze to bring back to Cogassa an open pit placer mine on the 60 mile river.Gold was about $800.00 an ounce, I was clearing $ 1,500 every 2 weeks Amazing time of my life , you certainly don't have those kind of experiences playing safe at home somewhere.

Great video. I love gambling and Vegas. However, I cannot always fly to Vegas on a whim, so, I will often make the 9-hour drive to Dawson for my gambling pleasures. It is actually quite a festive town.

Except for the dirt streets it could be a sleepy little community in Atlantic Canada. Authentic and unvarnished like so many places in Canada.

Maybe it's the overreaction to the Tempest In a Teapot, but this place looks sad and desolate. It's quite possible the government killed this community permanently. Well shit video though. The weather is also dingy. Looks like Vancouver.
