    Any substitute for maple syrup?

Feel free to trade out the maple syrup for organic honey! The maple syrup adds a necessary wetness to the mixture before the bake which is important so that the cookies don’t go dry after baking. You could try using coconut sugar instead too but that may affect the above 🤷🏼‍♂️ I haven’t tried it in honesty! But honey will work just fine 👌🏻 Enjoy!

I'm sure these cookies taste great, but I don't see how they are healthy or any healthier than any other cookie?
It is still just like any other sugar-loaded treat.

Hi Pat! Thanks for your comment.
Yes you’re absolutely right these cookies do taste great! The main difference with these cookies is the “healthier” substitutes. For example, the chickpeas (lower calories, natural and higher protein) substitute for processed flour which is much higher in carbohydrates and calories. Also the maple syrup is a great alternative for processed sugar as it is a more natural sweetener that doesn’t lose any flavour. Finally the peanut butter acts as a healthier fat alternative with more flavour and protein compared to using butter or margarine. Overall the cookies offer higher nutritional value and contain more naturally sourced ingredients, bar the raising agents and vanilla essence.
A big part of my channel is posting healthier alternatives to our favourite dishes and treats without losing flavour, which most healthy alternatives do. You want to make something and enjoy it enough to make it again, while keeping it healthier! It’s important not to make the perfect the enemy of the good ☺️
