Most European languages belong to a very big group of languages called indo-european, which other than Indian and most European languages, also includes persian, tajik and dari (most commonly spoken language in Afghanistan). The biggest exceptions are that of Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian and many languages spoken around the arctic region of Europe, and belong to a completely unrelated language family called Uralic.
But there's one, still spoken European language, so distant from any other European language, that it is in a language family all on it's own. That language is called Basque, which is spoken in northern Spain with it spilling over a little in southern France. You would expect it to be a Latin-dirived language since it is surrounded by latin languages, but it isn't. A language that has no other close relatives, is called a language isolate, because only one language is in the group.

"Poland is not yet lost" is, as far as I've heard, the rough English translation of the name of the Polish national anthem. When I asked a Polish friend about it, assuming the name to be depressing, she said it was actually from a time when Poland was not on the map so it was kind of a promise to return. Nice to see this in a countryball sketch.

I feel like the US put itself in a no-win scenario with Vietnam, if we wanted to win why didn't we invade North Vietnam? Because we thought it would spark a larger conflict with China, who we helped gain power through open trade. If the US had invaded North Vietnam, then the conflict wouldn't have lasted 20 years, but instead every time the US fought back a Northern assault, instead of advancing, we just allowed them to recuperate, and reorganize. Maybe instead of just sitting there waiting for the North Vietnamese to attack again, we should have eliminated the source of the problem. Imagine if the allies tried to beat Germany in WW2, by just bombing them, and never invading to stop them from recovering. Well that what happened in Vietnam, sure the US bombed the North, but what did that do? We still gave them so much time to recover, I don't know what we expected, a bad outcome from a bad plan? Because that is what we got.

In Taiwan (or Mandarin world), pineapples are called "fong li". The li means "pear", and the fong means a mythic bird that's similar to the phoenix. (sometimes it's called "Chinese phoenix")
    So it's like... phoenix pear.
