He's so calm and accepting. I always wonder if they know they're being helped or if they're just confused as hell and just rolling with it. I tend to believe they know they're being helped.
I really do think they feel they are being helped! in some ways, they understand that as soon as the pain is gone. Thanks Jon for sharing.
I’ve been a medical foster for dozens of dogs. They know you’re helping them. They’ll even tolerate pain to a point without reacting.
@@slc1161 When I was about 8 my neighbors dog started yelping in pain in their back yard while his people were at work so I went to investigate. Somehow he got an enormous splinter in his paw. It was about two inches long and as round as a pencil - huge! So I did like my dad would with me and I told him it was gonna hurt and before he knew I was doing anything I yanked it out. He yelped loudly but almost instantly started licking my hand and face. I took that to mean exactly what you said about tolerating pain.

@@AnimalCrackerDrDougWillenyes, they usually pick up on our intentions. It works both ways. Sometimes, I pass dogs who pick up on me needing some comforting for example. Among humans, it seems to be the opposite.

If I were her I would get one of those little gates people use to baby-proof their stairs, poor little guy was just going down and ended up hurting himself :( fortunately he's got a very loving and caring momma taking care of him though, wishing her and him the best ❤🐾

At 16, Chihuahuas are still only about 60 in human years. I had a Chiweenie that made it to 23 (her biological brother passed at 17 due to cancer). Miss her so much. Miss them both so much.

Just a suggestion, you may need a portable gate at the bottom and top of the stairs. Especially during the time when everyone is asleep.

Get a baby gate for at the top of your stairs, from the Goodwill store or a garage sale. Don't get one brand new. They're everywhere out there. And that way you don't have to worry about him going down the stairs without you there. ❤

Get a gate for the stairs, and some cushioned stairs for the couch - if he jumps on the couch.
Mr. Moe is a great older pup. Suggest shortening his toenails. His brain is relating to the length of his nails instead of the length of his toes.

Good recovery there for Mr MOE...hope his owner will now do some sort of preventative measure to prevent his injuring himself down the staircase again his body wont be so forgiving next time...some sort of barrier as such...Prevention is always better than cure...my humblest opinion
