- This week we have Hope, who's new owners at Rustic Ridge saved her from a bad situation. Dr Travis, Steve Sermersheim, and the team work to get her back to comfortable, and as you will see at the end - I'd say its working!! She will still be coming to see us every three weeks to continue trimming those rear feet and getting them back to where they should be.

About 30 years ago I bought a mini off craigslist for 50 bucks. Poor guy had been used as a cart horse and had healed sores all over his body from the harness. Little white patches of hair where the harness and headstall had been. He could barely walk from severe arthritis. I penned him up when it got dark out, but he was allowed to roam during the day. We got him about April, and he passed away about October. He was a pet for my ten year old, and she loved him with everything she had in her. Went out one morning to open his stall, and he was down. Vet said he passed in his sleep. I’m glad we were able to give that little guy some much needed love and rest. To every “Rusty” out there, I hope you get the love you deserve. ❤️🤟🏼🫶🏻

This horse's prancing at the end of this ordeal shows me we can't let hooves grow and stop them from enjoying life. Thanks to these good hearted people for her salvation.

After watching Hope’s video I had a warm smile on my face. I’m so happy for this little girl to finally have a home along with love and happiness. She loves her new home 🏡.

I don't understand how anyone could let Hope's hooves get so overgrown. I can't imagine how much pain she was in. It is marvelous to see how well she rebounded and enjoys running around as she should.
I had the pleasure of working with Steve and he is one of the greatest farriers I know. Great job on giving this pony and new lease on life.
Steve is one of if not the top farrier in North America, we are absolutely honored to be able to work with him!
I'm not a horse person but I know pain when I see it. my heart ached to see her struggling so hard to walk but the amazing skill of the farrier gave her back the joy of running and boy was she making the most of it! A job well done by all of you!

I'd like to thank the previous owner for doing the right thing for this horse. He tried to take care of her, realized he couldn't, and was going to end her suffering. Thankfully for her, found someone who could give her the care she needed and he just let her go.
Agree! They could have hid her away or put her down, but gave her a chance to survive. Thank you to the folks over at Rustic Ridge here in Southern Illinois for picking her up and letting us take care of her! She is living her best life on the farm already!

HUH? thats MONTHS or YEARS of neglect! he says he phoned farriers to get the horse trimmed and they always cancelled on him? why not TAKE the horse TO a farrier or a farrier SCHOOL then? im thinking he shd b charged with neglect. @@BeasleyEquineClinic

She as cute as a button, looks like a shrunk down Quarter Horse, has a nice little head.

TY all for being the loving, and compassionate stewards of God's critters. That lil lady will never forget you all for giving back her spirit of doing what she is doing now, running against the wind. You can see the sheer joy in her sprinting, rearing and bucking. Her actions are as good as vocalizing; ..."an-and look what else I can do", "did you see that, watch me do that again"!!!

I was at a local auction just a week ago and there was two ponies and a 41/2 month old donkey that looked just like this. My heart ached for them, but unfortunately I couldn't afford to help them. I'm so glad that you all can help this little one ☺️ blessing for all.😊
This poor neglected little horse looks like she feels a whole lot better with her feet. Looks like even just one trimming of the house by somebody that knows what they're doing. Helped her tremendously. Thanks for doing such a lovely job of looking after her! I'm sure she'll be a fabulous pet. Will there be anyone learning to ride her? I mean this child of proper weight of a course!

Thank you for giving her frequent breaks…not all farriers are that concerned, and I’ve seen horses in terrible condition being put through the torments of hell by a farrier who seems to think they have unlimited endurance.

those hooves are so twisted. that poor little girl. so this affects more than just the foot!! (it always hurts to see animals mistreated or abused. hope the people are fined big time and not allowed any pets at all !)

i just happened upon your channel today and i love it. the empathy and compassion y'all have for these beautiful creatures, is a joy to watch. i am obviously not happy with any animals being neglected but its great to see there are so many amazing people and professionals, willing to help these animals. i spend most of my days an nights stuck indoors due to a debilitating and disabling syndrome, which means i watch a lot of youtube videos and then following loads of amazing channels. you have a new subscriber. love from ireland💚👩🦽
