    There are huge differences between prep schools and hockey academies, and it feels like the two get "mushed in" together here.
    Ironically, the son of a butcher who is serious about academics and athletics can probably attend an elite private boarding school for less than it costs to play a season of AAA hockey.

    Taft, Avon, Salisbury, Andover, Choate, Milton, and the whole of the New England prep league is not only excellent athletics, they are THE best academic high schools in the USA. They routinely matriculate student athletes to the Ivy league.
    They are not a business as most are non profit.
    Research the top 10 schools in the US and you will see these prep schools have been at the top for decades with alumni in the most prestigious positions in business, government, research, etc.
    A new "academy" trend is emerging that is not the same. Those are glorified billeting programs.
