I think he's talking about 5 and 6 yr old, but at 7 and 8 they start getting really good. My 8 yr old is AA and their team played 4 AAA teams over the weekend.. and the level of play was amazing, they were very tactical, a lot of passing and structure. These kids know all the rules, they're playing with penalties, off sides, and they can really shoot.

Yeah, I’m neutral on this too. Most 5-8 yr olds are capable of passing, getting open, and going to the net after a few practice reps. These skills are more impressive and rare than speedy puck chasing and elite stickhandling.

They are running learn to skates with 30 kids on the ice. He says kids falling around wacking pucks. Kids in those programs skate like crap, zero corrections, just go go go, develop bad habits and won't even sniff junior C. They are not talking about AAA hockey programs.

They are talking about 8 year olds in AA or single A hockey. This is a learn to skate explanation. Probably 30 kids lining up doing one rep falling all over. There are a lot of 8 year olds in AAA pumping 12 hours a week minimum looking all world McDavid on the ice.

Swimming lessons suck. At 8 just let them play dive bomber and Star Wars. They learn to skate by skating
