    I think keano is the funniest pundit in TV.
    His dry wit and his own expectations of people are brilliant to watch.
    His comedy timing is better than 90% of professional comedians.

    • @padraigmcgrath3876
      @padraigmcgrath3876 Před 2 lety +1

      Honest? An honest pundit would actually talk about what's happening in the football-match he's been paid to watch, instead of just giving it loads of attitude and laying his edgy oersonality on thick.
      I can't remember the last time Roy actually had anything concrete to say as a football-pundit, apart from "I'm so edgy, I'm so edgy, I'm so edgy....."
      To be fair to him, a big part of it is the bullshit-culture surrounding football in England. Even guys with FA coaching-badges sometimes know surprisingly little about the technical nuts'n'bolts of the game of football. A guy with an FA coaching-badge once led me through how he would run half-time in a dressing-room. He said "Well, I'd isolate 2 or 3 players who needed to be pumped up or psychologically worked on, and I'd hand 2 of them over to the assistant-coaches, and work with one myself...."
      So I asked him "But how many minutes do you set aside for tactical instructions?"
      "None," he said.
      "Let me get this straight," I said, "You've got an FA coaching-badge, but receiving that accreditation required you to know more about pop-psychology than about the technical nuts'n'bolts of the game of football....You'll spend ALL of half time playing the role of Mr.Motivator, getting players pumped, but WHERE'S THE FUCKING FOOTBALL? This would be like a company where the head of the finance department runs a team of accountants, but doesn't know anything about accounting himself - his only qualification for the job is knowing pop-psychology....Any company which ran its finance department like that would go bankrupt very fucking quickly....."
      And if it's true of qualified coaches in England, then it's definitely true of pundits, including Roy Keane. They'll talk about players being "motivated." They'll talk about "problems in the camp." They'll talk about the temperamental frailties of "the modern player." Blah, blah, blah..... The whole discussion is polluted by pop-psychology. Nobody's actually talking about the game of football. And Roy is as guilty of that banal pop-psych bullshit as the rest of the pundits in England.

      Don't you think that Roy has bought into his own personality-cult a bit? Think about the tagline for this video - "If they want a comedian, then they can get somebody else....."
      Oh, come on, Roy, you know perfectly well that people watch you because they find your acerbic comments AMUSING. People dig videos of Roy Keane because when he says something brutally critical, the brutality is amusing. Roy plays to the gallery with that stuff, and he knows it.... So he is very deliberately being a comedian sometimes, and he knows it, which means that in this video, he's bullshitting us and bullshitting himself.
      People don't watch Roy Keane's punditry because it's more analytical than other pundits - it isn't. People watch Roy Keans's punditry because Roy lays his edgy personality on super-thick. It's a personality-cult. Truth be told, Roy's "football-analysis" is just about as detail-lite and banal as anybody else's. But he can pretend to be the great truth-teller by just exaggerating the "me and my edgy personality" thing.
      As for his comment about "getting rid of all that player-power nonsense....."
      Ahem,.....
      Ah, does the place-name "Saipan" ring any bells, Roy?
      I don't think that Roy is necessarily the best man to criticize "player-power."
      To be honest, I strongly suspect that being a pundit has been pretty bad for Roy's mental health, because he doesn't even understand that he's playing a role. He reminds me of something which the anthropologist Tomas de Zengotita wrote in a book about media-culture. He wrote "Like everybody else, you've become so good at playing yourself that you've forgotten it's an act."

    Put simply Roy Keane was consistently the best performer that the PL has ever seen! No-one scored higher out of 10 per game over a 10 year plus period as Roy Keane. No-one.................
    He's also the best Captain the PL has ever seen with the best record of success in terms of trophies.
    There isn't a player alive or dead with the drive and determination of Roy Keane.
    Please note I'm not saying he was the most talented player-although he was immense in that department to. Other players like Le Tissier, Scholes, Zola, Cantona etc were more talented but none of them scored as high out of 10 per game over 12 years of PL football as Keano!!!

    When I saw Keane get Sunderland promoted i thought he might be the manager at United one day. Winning promotion is a major achievement in my book. I expected him to become one of the best. Has not happened yet. Still time though. I also would like him to be director of football at MUFC. Signing big money flops has been a big part of the problems at United for the last few years. No bullsh!tters would get past an interview with Keane. There is a big Scots roadblock to Keane rejoining MUFC. Pity. I think he also would win elections in Ireland in a landslide. Can you tell me how many fights Roy Keane has had?? Can you tell me when he has had arguments a time when he had every right to say how he feels? People mistake passion for trouble and they want everyone to be sheep! Your that type of man the type of man who thinks everyone should toe the line and just live with whatever is going on. I think Ole should appoint Keane as his assistant at Utd, if the players step out of line or are underperforming, Ole can send them to Roy.

    • @adammccormack4961
      @adammccormack4961 Před 4 lety

      That would only work if the players respected him and really cared about United and how Roy was an in important part in one of the most successful periods the club has been in.

      It wouldn’t work as Keane is a MAN players today are pretty boy snowflakes so if Keane shouted at any of them the dummy would be spat out and they would sulk for weeks

      As much as I like keano he isn't level headed enough for management.
      He contradicts himself constantly and struggles to manage players.
      Utd will never touch him, not until fergie is dead and buried anyway.

    Would love to see Roy Keane manage united. The players would be afraid of him and afraid to let him down. Do you think the players are scared of ole? I very much doubt it.
