BTW, so just went to Hyundai dealership yesterday, and all the 2021 Tuscons on the lot are last generation. The only new generation they just got delivered this week, still in plastic, is a 2022 per the window sticker. If you go to the US build website, the 21s are also shown to be last gen and the 22 the new gen, so for the US market people just don't get confused asking if they have 21s in stock, you want the 22!
Also the one I drove in the US there is no 1.6 turbo option, its a 2.5L NA and it has a 8-speed transmission, not 7-speed. The salesman said they are bringing a 1.6 turbo hybrid version, but it will have a 6-speed automatic.

After test driving many of the new Tucson 2022 hybrids, we came to the conclusion that the hybrid blue was the one to get if your not out for gimmicks like forward and reverse parking in the limited or a sun roof that opens only 14in or so in the sel. The hybrid blue was faster then the sel, better on fuel, and bang for the buck on money A+. We finally got ours today after waiting for more then a month for the artic white hybrid blue on all black int. Super satisfied.

Absolutely loving what Hyundai have done with the design language of this car, also like how the dash looks low which gives the front a more open and airy feel, big thumbs up from me, the only negative is they have to stop with the glossy black plastic, I'd rather it be a brushed effect plastic, thanks for the review Charlie!

Two things: 1) needs a trim level offering the 2.5T turbo, like the Santa Fe. This car is a dog 0-60. 2) lower rear defuser is to dark in color, needs brightwork, providing a more finished look. Following this car down the road, it looks like something didn’t get added at the factory. Thanks, Mike Sloan

I had an Elantra 1995 I bought in 2008 and replaced it with a 2011 i30 with a diesel engine since 2012 and still going strong with about 225,000 km on the oddometer, beautiful reliable economical car. Maybe my first EV will be a Hyundai as well, we will see...

Ordered the same with the 48v mild hybrid, this is the first real review, hitting all the right spots, handling, consumption, performance, all of them in real life scenarios, great job! Only things I don't like is the low positioned turn light, tiny and out of sight, it would have been nicer to been put higher up where the stop lights are, imagine driving in snow, rain or muddy roads all the dirt covering them, not quite visible when engaged, and the position of the cup holders right next to the auto box switches/buttons on the middle console , just an accident waiting to happen! I cannot imagine what can happen if a soft drink or coffee gets spilled on those auto control buttons, this will most probably be like spilling them on your mobile phone and we all know what happens then!

Whilst some of the other car companies cash in on the badge and really not much change to the car, Hyundai, on the other hand seem to evolve and get better and better. I definitely would say Hyundai has done an absolute impeccable job on this new Tucson. The interior layout is so beautiful and very clean looking. Really easy on the eyes. This colour combination inside and outside looks beautiful. I think this car will certainly be a winner. Well done Hyundai,❤️👍👌 btw, a really great in-depth review 👍👍👍

My 2006 Santa Fe GLS still works, but would love to have a car like this as a replacement. The 1.6 Hybrid sounds interesting! I am not so fond yet for the interior design, but the exterior is simply SPECTACULAR. Congrats Hyundai!

They have the rear seat warmers and I believe KIA stripped that out of the new Sorento. This is a good size for people who don’t need a larger SUV. Agreed, they should offer heads up display. It should be a basic safety feature from all manufacturers.

Tucson looks good, both exterior & interior. In USA lights is rear bumper used to be illegal. Rear signal light down so low does NOT look premium to me. Could easily be integrated into regular tail lamp assembly. Hidden rear wiper is great feature. Even some expensive SUV's do not have it. Would like to see Hyundai update their "H" emblem on vehicles. Hyundai has come a long way with vehicles & updating the "H" emblem would benefit look. Another good review Charlie. Slainte' ! Cheers !

I just purchased a 2020 Tucson Ultimate and this car gets 19MPG/city and 25.8 Highway
I made sure that all my tires were properly inflated but the horrible gas mile continues with average 19MPG/city. i checked with other Tucson owners and they told me the same.
I may file a class action lawsuit for false advertising.

Thank you for this. It is very difficult to find reviews of the 1.6T - most reviews feature the 1.6 T Hybrid which is not, as far as I am aware, available in the Caribbean. And thanks also for driving it as a real owner would drive it - on highways and curvy on-ramps as opposed to the track.

Why Hyundai keeps placing turn signals so down low, doesn’t make sense!! because people driving bigger cars will never see them. Love the car but I don’t like the turn signals. I own a 3 generation Tucson and those turn signals should’ve stayed right where they were.

Turn signals on the bottom should be illegal, as when someone is directly behind you they cannot see it, only turn signals on the mirrors are visible which might be confusing

I'm not sure but I think the RAV 4 has the same placement of the indicators in the rear very low as well.
Nah man, they are LED and you can see them clearly shinning even when you’re tailgating because they reflect on your tailgate-loving car.
It is ACTUALLY illegal to tailgate. O ly tailgating will disable you from seeing lower turn signals....
And if youre not paying attention, as to NOT see someones turn signal, you shouldnt be driving.
Your idea of the taillights being ILEGAL, is just silly.

I have the previous generation Tucson and aside from some slippage from the DCT, it is a flawless vehicle. Really appreciate the reliability. So much o tht I now also have a Genesis GV70. I LOVE THAT ONE TOO!! If you are still spending thousands more for Audi and BMW, you must have money to burn . Happy New Year!

I love the new interior design, particularly the technology. But I think I didn't hear if the Carplay or Android Auto is wireless.
Also, it would help if you could get some info from Hyundai as to when this model will be available in other countries, like in Australia.

Interesting. They moved the front radar sensor to the center now. On the early ones that Hyundai shows the sensor was skewed to the passenger side. I wish they can add a rear-seat side manual sunshade on at least the top trim. I like the glass emblem on the rear window, I just wish that it was made transparent so it can be used to look behind. It seems that piece of glass is still blocked off like the ones without hidden type rear wiper.

I’m not gonna lie, I hadnt really been paying attention to Kia/hyundai.
Ive owned: Toyota, Lexus, Ford, and just recently got myself into a 2021 Forte GT2.
I gotta say, I am impressed! I decided on Kia mainly for that lengthy warranty they offer (USA), giving me peace of mind.

Hi Charlie, thank you for all your detailed reviews. We like the 2022 Tucson and have put it on our short list. We do wish it had a heads-up display. The only concern we have is the lack of a cover over the digital gauge cluster. Hyundai has indicated that it is anti-glare, but we did notice some glare and reflection in the video. Since we live in the Southern California desert with extremely bright sunlight and heat, what was your experience during the test drive? Cheers.

Rear indicator position is a big let down on such a nice car,it should have been incorporated higher up and have been LED.
