today was our first and last time hitting the mall!! 1/10 would not recommend. JK. it wasn't that bad i had a great time with Tiff and Sarah :) although i AM a big retail therapy bitch and the fact i didn't get anything that day got me in my feels. we're hitting the thrift stores next time. LYY

I wish there was something like a “thrift store mall” where you could have a bunch of thrift stores or just one mega large thrift store with a bunch of cafes and restaurant around it ,so you can go shopping as usual but for a lower price 😭 i love shopping in regular malls so much but it’s always so expensive, so I end up spending so much money for very basic clothes :(

We have a few of those where I live (not in USA, sorry) and it's so exhausting but rewarding at the same time😅. It's an old cinema building converted to shops and there would be atleast a handful of thrift stores per floor. But the big thrift shops I see in the US don't seem too bad as well, especially during sales. I would love to visit those someday.
I just live quite far away from that place now, and where I am I don't have any shortage of thrift stores(all walking distance from home, yay), and tbh I don't need as much clothes now because I still don't go out very much and have focused more on quality vs quantity

OMG YES!! There was this one store doing a sale so I got a few tops and sweatpants for like $20-30 each but they feel exactly like some of the shein clothes I had 😟 It’s true that every shop just sells the same items from exploited China shops but up price it from $5 to $30. Like I wouldn’t even be mad if the quality matched the price, but it doesn’t and it clearly takes advantage of the social image of malls and retail stores being more “legitimate” and fancier. Makes ppl even question why spend more in the first place? And if paying more even benefits the original labor workers bc you don’t know if they’re being paid a wage that equates to the heavy price, or if that was just the store’s greed

The issue isn’t that the mall is expensive it’s that peoples salaries and allowances don’t match their prices 😭
truuu but some pieces just were not worth the price in terms of quality 😭
But also Zara, HM, and fast fashion in general has warped people’s perception into thinking clothing is supposed to be cheap when historically it never really was. People would invest in high quality pieces and wear them for as long as they could. They’d mend damage or rework it until the garment was unusable anymore. The problem with Zara (one of the many problems with Zara) is they’re charging high quality prices for extremely low quality product. They basically sell fancy dust rags cuz that’s what you’ll be using their pieces for within a month or two of purchase.

@@cameroncintron6705 you’re absolutely right . I was reading about high fashion too , where it used to be relatively more affordable than it is now, and they have increased their prices and decreased quality, h’m and f21 had more of an impact on all fashion than many realize
No it's expensive.
tbh the only mall store I will ever shop at now is uniqlo because it has a nice vibe and stuff is more affordable there. Plus their medium sizing fits me well. All of the other stores have overpriced cheap quality fast fashion items that tear after a few months. I've found that what I wear most consistently is basically whatever I thrifted so I just do that now esp since modern fashion has shifted to vintage thrifting. And you can find some good quality stuff that doesn't exist anymore.

True most of my everyday wear and work wear is from the thrift store. I have lots of new unworm clothes (off topic lol) but its much easier for me to wear the thrifted clothes everyday since they were so cheap and already preworn lol. Even if they wear out more overtime, its okay cause i didnt invest so much into it. I recently just got a $120 nwt coat for only $25 at platos closet. Yoooo i wear that everyday now. It was one of the best values of my money xD.
Also off topic but i had like group lunch with one of my managers like gen x or something. Clearly different generation, also pay level lol, but she was talking about buying like $150 shoes. And i guess stores she likes to shop. Which is fine. The millenials said they used to shop more named brands but downgraded to the target. But im like the anonymous thrifter in the group lol. Like different generation shopping habits (im a zelenial but classified as millenial lol)
@@babighoul7213 idk about you but all jackets i got from Uniqlo has lasted me 3 years.. still going strong lol. Their t shirt and sweaters are pretty decent.

I went to the mall today and stores like bath and body works and Victoria secrect pink sold items for 50-60 percent off. At bath and body works body mists were 3-5 bucks. That’s a major good deal cuz usually body mists and perfumes at other areas cost like 15 bucks just for one. I mainly get my clothes from Burlington. Occasionally I’ll go the mall but Burlington, tjmax are my go to for clothes and asseories

Guuurl i was freaking out i thought i was going crazy and then i realized through this video that actually there are other people around the world who thinks buying clothes for like $40 and even more it's expensive! I live in Venezuela and we have an economic crisis, due to that buy clothes it's such mess because it's reaaaally expensive, especially at the mall, we have like basic clothes, nothing special, just like you showed in the video, costing like 40 50 60 even 100 dollars...... WTF, i thought yeah it's because i live in Venezuela, so I thought everyone outside would actually buy clothes at those prizes, i'm glad people knows the true worth of money! how can brands think we will throw money like that?! as we can see those clothes aren't worth of that amount of money

Actually me, all my life buying 2/3 things at the mall and now I've discovered the wonders of online shopping, for FAIR PRICES, got myself more than 10 pieces coming this week for about the price. lol
thrift store isnt popular in my country, i have to go to the mall and drop 150 or 300$ on a shirt(i dont know the cost in US, but it is too much!)
edit: 300 ttd is 44.21 usd and its considered unreasonable price for many items

Love target for new clothes. I wait for the clearance to drop significantly. I know that kinda sounds bad but all is fair in waiting 🤷♀️🤣. Altho if i find some cute wild fable jeans i usually buy at full sale cause they fit so good on my difficult to fit body and they sell out super quick 🙃. I think most of the WF jeans barely make it to clearance. Altho it seems the clearance is getting a bit better more recently and seems target isnt selling as much full price now, keeping inventory for longer (cause obv the inflation people watching their frivolous spends now.....)

I wanna know where this good thrifting exists !!! In larger American cities (where there is more wealth gap and people really need to have access to cheap clothes) goodwill and other thrifts are soooo pricey . I’m in California and the goodwill a few blocks from me doesn’t have a shirt for under $8 even if they’re stained or ripped . I saw a nike pullover sweater I liked… $18 , like huh ? It’s cheaper to go to target or something which is a shame .

People really need to take a break for a second and realise that clothes have gotten considerably cheap over the years. We just buy so much that it gets kinda expensive. 65 dollars for a jacket is super cheap if it were made from good materials, we’ve just been taught that bad quality a,d overconsumptio, is normal
