  • A former Post Office boss has insisted she did “not do anything wrong” in the Horizon scandal.
Angela van den Bogerd, who held a number of roles in the organisation from 1985 until 2020, had told the inquiry she was “truly sorry” for the “devastation” caused by the scandal.
But when pressed if she was personally responsible, she said: “I didn’t knowingly do anything wrong, and I would never knowingly do anything wrong.”
She added: “I apologise for not getting to the answer more quickly, but with the evidence I had, and the parameters of my role at the time, I did the best I could and to the best of my ability.”
Ms van den Bogerd had earlier said: “I do want to say to everyone impacted by wrongful convictions and wrongful contract terminations that I am truly sorry for the devastation caused to you, your families and friends.”

All these top business people, earning God knows how much, yet none of them had the brain to say that Horizon may be faulty as all these SPM's can't be wrong. What she and all the others did wrong was not using one brain cell between them.

As soon as they say ‘I don’t recall’ they should be jailed until they do remember. Stick em in a prison cell like they did the Postmistresses and postmasters.

Yes it has. Their teams of very very pricey lawyers will be telling them. When the prosecutions start they'll be on their own. And bled dry. Hopefully this will compensate victims (and the families of those who've taken their own lives over the issue) however I don't think a decade or more in court struggling through funds and prosecutions will be CHEAP for them.
Also with Labour in they won't have any political connections left to hide behind, and I don't think Labour will be inclined to hold back any evidence they themselves dig up if it should potentially implicate any Tories at the same time!
So yes, I do think it's dawning on her and she will be VERY conscious now as she sits there and scowls that there are potentially VERY VERY VERY financially draining consequences awaiting.

For Nick Wallis, please read Investigative Journalist Extraordinary. His doggedness and determination continues to keep this deeply shocking affair at the forefront of so many people's minds. Never in the field of British miscarriages of justice, has so much been owed, by so many, to so few. Wallis is among those few and deserves a great honour for his services to investigative journalism, van den Bogerd deserves to be in prison. Write about those few to the King - I have!

There is a word for this kind of person, CRIMINAL. Not only did she lie under oath, she lied to protect her lies and the lies of others. She is trying to cover herself from prosecution and in doing so, has revealed her incompetence. Her arrogance is breathtaking as is her remorse for the people who went into debt or prison on her behalf.
