I have a pair of the FBT Promaxx14a, and while they're not perfectly suited to live vocals, there are no better powered speakers for DJ work or recorded music. Astonishing cabinets.
I'm a singer and own the promaxx 110a's. I find I need to turn down the mid EQ quite a bit to get a nice sound on vocals so I was thinking that the natural dip in mid presence on the bigger driver in the 14a might give a nice sound without the EQ tweek.... I would add the the 110a are VERY good for vocals as when you need that mid range punch it certainly there! Anyway, my bet is that the 14a is going to be much better than most 15's for vocals...
Do you have a preference? If you could only use one of these for the next 2 years which one would you choose and why? I feel like RCF sounds better but loses points because of it's look/design/aesthetics (which has to count for something in the wedding/private event industry)
Although it has a very limited mixer section when it comes to connectivity and very limited DSP flexibility, I'd still load up the RCF. It's lightweight, it provides very decent SPL without deterioration. Clarity of detail is so precise that matched with subs it's magical. I'd be even happy to use them alone without subs as my choice for the next 2 years
It seems to me that the RCF is not EQ flat. Sounds like the highs and lows are boosted. FBT and JBL sound flat and of those the JBL sounds the fullest. On the JBL you can go into the DSP and tweak it to your liking. So it's a personal decision I guess
When it comes to treble rcf really did a great job.. FBT sounds lighter and natural.. JBL seems fine.. But I doubt RCF can contend strong in heavy bass sound.. I'm just curious why you didn't change the genre of music where we can hear some strength of the other contender..
Ryan, many reasons. CZcams might block the entire upload with popular songs or too many songs in an upload. No song would be everybody's ideal. All speakers need to perform with whatever is thrown at them (any genre). I chose just the one song which I believe does a good job to reveal weaknesses & strengths Finally, my testing room acoustics are not the best and this needs to be taken into consideration (even in the stores where you demo them.) It's really just a guide as your ears need to make your final decision They are all worthy of a purchase, whichever way your ears sway you (you can't go wrong with either of these)
I liked the FBT best - this is because I like how natural the vocals sound, and how they seem to project above the music. The RCF could end up being shrill at high DB's - they would cut through, but may lack natural vocal warmth. Of course the music content, room acoustics, and SPL expectations all impact a final selection for 'best' speaker. I am very happy with my EAW Radius RX129's and RX126's for that purpose, but there still is no 'best' box overall, just the one that seems to work best for the job that day.
Rcf is amazing but that jbl with JBL app can be a better option. I love both. FBT I never hear live can give my option only from what I hear with headphones because is quite different.
I prefer the FBT : less demonstrative but more realistic and natural tone of the voice. RCF : more metallic tone with the voice. JBL "a voice in a box" tone.
smooth highs for FBT ... better than RCF. Interesting battle .... nice to compare them at high volume and see if FBT will remain clearer than RCF. Hard to decide between FBT and RCF. JBL sounds muffled and no presence in voice. I didn't know that FBT has 135.5 dB vs RCF 133 dB ... very intriguing! Indeed RCF has a crossover at 650 Hz for RCF and a very good driver, for FBT did not find the specs. regarding crossover
Finally! This test has never been done before here on CZcams. Now, wouldn’t be more fair to compare just the molded cabinets..? And also 3 types of sound like Electro-Rock-Jazz(or some live type of it) would do a better justice on how the speakers handle. (But that’s my 2 cents here :) The FBT sounds very intriguing I would say!!
Unfortunately I could only test the speakers that I have. I thought I'd stick to a short and sweet test just as a guide. I think the more thorough test should really be done in the shops when purchasing. The FBT is a remarkable speaker, a definite must on your demo list
OPAZ It was on my list not too long ago, but.. went with RCF because I had a chance to listen to 745 Mk4. Maybe Fbt speakers are better but one thing I am thankful to is that I could get rid of the heavy and dull* SRX’s
rcf, fbt make good speakers and the new Art 932, 945 sound beautifully, they are clear and sharp, the problem is that they are delicate and when we turn them up loud they boil and distort the sound and can be damaged. Jbl srx812, Yamaha dzr12, ev etx there is power and power here. they are just taking place at high levels.
The RCF won here, and in a bigger room stood further back (like at a gig) the difference would be even greater, a lot of this being due to the large compression driver and 650 hz crossover, so if you can afford the extra money then buy the RCF
Exactly Valentine. Which is why all speakers were recorded individually, on a pole, at the same height, in exactly the same location, in the same room, at the same distance from the same microphone, at the same volume level. All speakers started off on a level playing field to get get the most accurate results, with no sound enhancements added. The uploaded visual is simply to state which speaker is playing and at which time. The audio was not recorded as you see them.
Hi, I have already commented on your review on why not to buy bose L1 costing 3000, my god you have certainly opened up my eyes in avoidence of buying rubbish, Well I also told you I have the line aray yamaha stagepas 1k's and with all the marketing that went on about them bought 2, Being a Dj I found them excellent for small functions, also being a singer performer and play keyboards, I found them under pressure, But really my main focus is on sound for singers vocals to be able to cut through the mix of a live band, everything seems to focus on just Dj's, You as I said previously seem to have the only level head on how to do an honest trustworthy view on speakers and pa, and it was good to see you put these top names to the test, FBT , JBL, RCF from what I'm hearing I'm told FBT are a very under-rated speaker, JBL I have never really given a thought to, RCF I'm leaning towards for there clarity, but one comment up here has slightly steered me away, in that when pushed may not handle the increase in decibels, I have sang through the Rcf 712A mk 4 and also did a disco with them no bins attached, I felt if I had the RCF 715 mk4 they would give me that extra bit of bass end I needed, but then would my live vocals not have that nice clarity anymore, So I really need answers, solid professional answers on number 1, which is best for live vocals to shine in the mix, RCF 12's or 15's and which models are best, mk 2 mk4 or whatever, number 2 is the RCF the best, love to read others views also, but I'm definitely keeping a close eye on your channel that's for sure, I'm still laughing at your Dismantle of the L1 😂 I just hope over the next few days make that perfect decision and buy 2 outstanding fab active speakers , handle power and utmost clarity, and not be afraid to walk in anywhere with them, cause right now, ever venue I walk in, It's the Dynacord P5 system goes in and thats old, but the yamaha's stays in the van, so yep it's time to move them on, I think they are more suited to a one man and his acoustic guitar and they are super efficient for this task, so let's read what you the experts have to say here, excellent reviews and excellent channel 👍

Good question Kristien. I had to think about this. If you need the connectivity that the fbt has in the mixer section, then go for that. With the 15" LF driver you don't need subs with the 745 and the overall sound from them is magic. Allthough the fbt has great dsp, I've not really needed to go into the dsp when i gig, except for when i use the evolve 50. if you were looking to compare the fbt with a 12" I would go for the fbt but as you are comparing it to the Classy 745, I would have to say that I would go for the 745 all the time Don't forget, i dont have the MK4 If it's purely great sound quality that you want, you will not be disappointed with the 745 You must demo both

The ES achieves an extremely long reach, the audio travels with ease whereas these will drop off and hit their limits much earlier. The ES also reaches high SPL effortlessly. The fbt in particular, also drives effortless when it comes to achieving high SPL but doesn't match the 1203 The dedicated cabinets catering for the Mid/HF & LF combined, produce a clearer more detailed and defined sound delivery compared to these 3.

It was between JBL & RCF....from what I remember when taking notes on the test, there wasn't much in it between the 2. Think JBL got the win FBT was definitely in 3rd place
How about that. I own jbl prx but if I would have seen this comparison first I would have paid up for RCF. IMHO based on this youtube vid the JBL sound a bit muffled across the spectrum, the FBT have sharper highs than JBL but lows sound the same. The RCF sound sharp and clear across the spectrum.
Guys ...jbl is the best speaker from here,is in another league,i heard all 3 ...jbl 28 kg ,rcf and fbt 18/19 kg...jbl is in a league with fbt himaxx 60a and from rcf with TT 25 ...we need to remain with the feet on the ground ,in this days how much you pay is wath you get...sorry for my english ,i m from Romania.
I think the JBL sound way better than the RCF. From factor, the RCF eq's are not flat like how the JBL eq's are so there for the RCF will sound more lively right out the box.The JBL has a nice kick to them that the RCF can't give and you can do way more on the JBL.
I have a pair of the FBT Promaxx14a, and while they're not perfectly suited to live vocals, there are no better powered speakers for DJ work or recorded music. Astonishing cabinets.

they all sound great! but the rcf was better.

IMHO based on this youtube vid the JBL sound a bit muffled across the spectrum, the FBT have sharper highs than JBL but lows sound the same. The RCF sound sharp and clear across the spectrum.
Have you tried your speakers with the app?
FBT
1. Rcf
2. Fbt
3. Jbl
Which is the loudest?
I think the JBL
RCF but dam they expensive
I'm a fbt & rcf user. Look into kv2 audio
Serious equipment
fbt very accurate night and day
Like the Rcf , but Yamaha DZR15-D beats all of them
REALLY?
I too prefer the FBT
745a mk4 vs EVOX. Point source vs line source.
1× 745 or 2?
Anything higher than JBL would have to be Funktion-one.
Jbl wood big bass
Which one do you prefer ed
Personally, the one on the right
Rcf
👍
👍👍👍
Rcf best
FBT very natural
Rcf or fbt. For loudness?
RCF
