    I compare the original EON 500 series, including the 515, 515 xt, and the new PRX 815 Line. Should you upgrade if you are on a older speaker set up?

    Hey Cleveland it's a pleasure man,your videos are always awesome you're the best. Anyway am from Jamaica,back in 2016 I ordered 3 jbl 515xt online and believe me those units are a beast. But after a year I realize that the units started giving problems,like just shutting down in the middle of a gig and it would take like some minutes to power up again. The circuit boards got bad including the tweeter drivers and no technician couldn't repair the boards because they told me that the boards are very sensitive and computerized. Now all 3 monitors are down,am thinking of getting 2 jbl prx 815 because my budget is low right now and those monitors are very expensive to ship here but I love jbl they sounds super sweet. Thanks FAM really apprecilove this video I had to download it respect everytime.

    I agree with the PRX Connect app. It is a complete PITA! Lucky for me, that I had an old Netgear Nighthawk laying around and made a dedicated access point rather than using my home WiFi. I just think that having to use the app in order to EQ the speakers will turn some people off from these great speakers, I almost repacked them and wanted to head back to Guitar Center, get the store credit for them, and put it towards a pair EV ELX200-15P. But I stuck it out and finally got the hang of the app. I still do not care much for it, but at least now I know how to use it.

    You must do the firmware update on the PRX815 to get the volume level stronger. I could hear the PRX815 sounds much better. Additionally, PRX815 is one of the lightest in weight I've seen in a 15" powered top. Plenty of power and easy to lift...that's what I need.

    Hey Cleveland, I have a question for you, I have 4 subs. 2 prx718s and 2 vrx918s. When I play each series by themself they sound great but when I try to play one prx sub with the other 2 vrx subs they sound a bit off. I've realized that when I have them close to one another I need to switch the phase on the prx to 180 and if I have them spaced it sounds louder with the prx on 0 phase. But when doing this, even though it sounds louder, it sounds out of phase to my ears. Do the vrx subs naturally play with reverse phase? And is it a bad idea to mix the subs ? How can I combat this?

    The PRX is a much nicer speaker that the EON.
    PRX is wood cabinet they sounds better & have more headroom than the EON.

I tend to lean towards the EON's plus waaaay lighter then the JBL's and Gauss speakers on the back lol, the speaker stands do make a difference with the highs as for bottom end yes as Terry mentioned a solid subwoofer completes the set up, I remember one time at a show seeing RZA testing every speaker for it's sound no one had any idea except for a few exactly what he meant by every speaker must have a orchestra sound, those high hats and 808's must be not only heard but felt.

    The reason why the volume knob as you call it doesn't line up because they have different amplifier modules which probably have differet voltage gains, you set gain structure first before you test, testing without setting gain structure is a waste of time. Plus the drivers in the cabs probably have different sensitivity too. The volume knob on a power amplifier isn't a volume knob it's an input attentuator, read up about input attenuators and amplier voltage gain.

    @carlstockmal Před 2 lety

    I see the "12 o'clock is Unity" problem often in powered speaker comparisons. The ONLY way to properly compare is to FULL VOLUME each speaker, so that there is no question of whether 12 o'clock is 40% of full volume or 60% of full volume. I know it sucks, it SHOULD be 50% at 12 o'clock.... but people should be kind to one another, and that doesn't always happen either. Full volume is always maximum output, regardless of electronics, silk screening, and whether the manufacturer actually tested that "This is 50% of maximum output."

      @@ClevelandTerry Hi Terry...all the way from South Africa. I love your videos. Here there are no more eonxts or prx6/700 series sold in any stores. The only thing in jbl apart from the newer eons are prx 800 and SRX in the jbl line up. I do have a good deal on 2 second hand eon xts but they have been used for a while. Just worried about the reliability. After seeing your comments, please educate me more on the srx. I'm planning to get them in future and use them as stand alone speakers. How good are they? Give me some advice on them. I love the fact that they have a crown amp.
      Also if I go for a sub in future...which is best? Should I just stick to jbl? Currently I have two passive jbl jrx215 speakers and one elx200-12p and one ekx15p (the EVs got them on a good deal brand new hence the odd pair... waiting to complete both this year.

      Thats the difference between a wood cab, and a plastic cab. Plastic will give you more of a hollow echoey sound, where wood will sound more dense, and full
