I honestly can’t believe it, I am so grateful.
I have taken unpaid leave, and am home to visit my family and friends for as long as I can stay.
I will be spending two weeks in mandatory hotel quarantine in Southbank, Brisbane (Queensland), then travelling to my home city, Adelaide (in South Australia). 🦘 (I arrived and filmed this last night, August 30).
Plenty of time to catch up on vlog editing, create some new content, and document my stay here! Thank you so much for the ongoing support! You guys are amazing and I appreciate you all so much! 💕🥰

I know exactly how you felt!! I haven’t seen my family since 2019. I only live in England and my family is in Czech Republic. But different lockdowns made it impossible for me to go earlier. I have been home this August 13-21st…and it was amazing to see everyone. Very overwhelming!! So glad you got to see your family Viv. I was going crazy and it was mentally so hard!! I have missed my sister’s twins like mad…and all of my family members of course. Family is so precious 🤍
Yep, sometimes even if you’re only a city away it can be so difficult to see each other with these lockdowns! I’m so glad you got to see your family!! Can’t wait to see everyone in 11 sleeps! There are new babies to meet (little cousins), a new puppy (!!!) and so much to catch up on. Sending you lots of love!! 🥰🥰

Viv, just love this post.. so many of us Australian’s are overseas and haven’t seen our families for such a long time! This has been informative and inspiring to see the quarantine process that we have to go through at present. You did well with the lovely room and I’m looking forward to following you whilst you are there. I would be interested to know what the cost would be to cover the two weeks quarantine accommodation etc. (I’m UK based aircrew looking at going through the same process, as Brisbane is my home) x

I’m glad the video was helpful, I would have liked to have more insight before I came too, but it was all smooth and the airport staff were all super lovely!
The cost is just over $3000AUD as a single person, the costs are all online actually!

To me they are unsung heroes, especially in these times. Guess who is your newest fan/friend? Yep, didn't take me long to click that red button :) SO delighted you made it to your home country and OMG yes, what a sweet spot for a two week stay. Amazing view. Not often you have a ferris wheel in sight as well. I felt the emotions along with you. So I adore your personality, you seem absolutely wonderful and it's nice to "meet" you!

Well done and welcome back.. So, I'm about to fly off in 11 days time and hopefully be back at the end of the month.. The flight back was a nightmare to organise.. You're lucky to land in Brisbane as a final destination.. I will be stopping for a layover in Brisbane too but can't take my luggage and enter Australia because it's a connection flight, so, I have to continue to Auckland then take another flight back to Melbourne (total trip time 52 hours 😖). And yes, another $3,200 for the 2 weeks quarantine.. Flights cost time & money, but being back home is priceless.. Welcome back :)
Thank you Carlos! Oh goodness, yes it has been quite a process. Originally I had a ticket (with another airline) that was insanely expensive, that flight was cancelled and I was devastated as I thought it was my only way home, but things thankfully worked out. 🥰
What a process you have to go through, I totally feel for you. I'm sure you've researched well, but I'd recommend triple checking, as I have seen people book routes with stopovers in Aus/NZ and then being denied boarding as they were not allowed to transit/have a layover.

Thank you so much - yes the view is beautiful! The flight was around 14 hours, then I’d say 3 hours either side of flying from home to hotel! So around 20 hours of travelling total, not too bad!

So glad you're back up and running again. Great news we are opening Canada to all fully vaccinated International Travellers to Canada without quarantine beginning in September. But don't get the hopes high as we have a Federal Election underway so things may change. Can't wait for you to film EK 241/242 A380 service soon.

Can you rent a stationary bike or a treadmill? Get a good work out routine going. Set some goals for the two weeks and make a plan with your friends and family things to do after the quarantine. Many people are in quarantine and time will fly by. Cheers🥂 🧔
I looked into it, but think the workouts I’m doing/yoga/skipping/dancing in the room should be enough movement for now 🥰 ticking off lots of little tasks and staying productive, thank you! 💕

That looks like a very nice prison for 2 weeks. Seems like they should have a glass wall room for you to have visitors at least. Are the crew even allowed off the plane or do they deadhead back right away?

Yep, so I haven’t personally done a flight to Aus operating as crew yet during covid, but it’s very very strict for the crew, quarantined in medi hotels until their flight back. Normally they stay around 20 hours and then operate back ☺️☺️

I think they don't come to clean.
No one comes in my room, or in contact with me, except the nurses in full PPE who do my covid tests from a distance. Even when they drop food/parcels at the door, they knock and I have to wait 2 minutes and wear a mask before I open the door! 😅
