    I've had this toilet for about ten years and it has never clogged. The Fluidmaster flapper developed a blister about a year ago and was allowing water to trickle from the tank to the bowl. I couldn't locate the exact Fluidmaster replacement so I bought a Korky brand instead. Best thing I ever did. Now the toilet delivers a full flush without having to hold the handle down.
    I'm about to buy two more of these for my new house, and I'll be buying two Korky flappers to use in both of them.

    You never caulk a toilet. If it's leaking you want to know about it and not find out when it falls through the rotten floor.

    You should've gave the 70s Wellworth to me. You picked the right toilet, but another good choice for your other restroom is a Gerber Avalanche, or another Cadet 3, they both have great reviews.

    1:50 he finally flushes it. It's pretty loud actually I thought the cadet series was supposed to be quiet.

    the reason you need to hold the handle down is because of the adjustable 540 flapper that is shipped in an open position so it seals fast. You can snap it apart to make closed which will result in a full power flush every time. Of course the manual doesnt mention this.

      Good to know that it is adjustable, I thought a flapper was a flapper. Thanks for the comment.

    There's something in the glaze they use on the ceramic that makes the dirt not stick to it making the toilet easier to clean whenever it does get dirty.

      Yes it did clean very easily. I didn't even have to use chemicals.

    I am pretty sure you are incorrect about your toilet. You don't hold the lever. You press and release. You fall into the trap that many people do with low flush toilets. This is not a dual flush toilet. You are using more than the 1.28 gallons per flush when you hold it down.

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  Před 5 lety +4

      Which is why I only hold it down after a major dump. There is indeed a difference in functionality between the quick flush and holding it down. I'll conserve water where I can but if it saves me from plunging excrement and splashing fece specks into my face then I will "waste" a gallon or two. Thanks for watching though.

      You have to crank down the rubber inserts until they are snug.

      The first time I used the plunger in years was a few months ago when we discovered our septic tank was full. Still super happy with the toilet. Bah woooosh

    You will have tons of issues with that fluidmaster flapper. Also whoever told you that you have to hold the handle down doesn't know what they are talking about. Your flapper is not adjusted properly. Once it's adjusted properly all you do is press and release handle and it will flush the entire tank. I'm a licensed master plumber contractor in 3 states and get hundreds of calls because this toilet comes from the factory with the flapper not adjusted properly. I normally remove this junk fluidmaster flapper and install the korky chlorine resistant flapper and adjust it properly and your good to go for about 10 - 15 years .

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  Před 5 měsíci

      Im actually pretty happy with the flapper being improperly adjusted from the factory. I can flush #1 and #2s differently. None of my guests get confused or need a plunger. I don't doubt that the fluidmaster is a low-end flapper but it has been 7 years and it's working fine. I bought another cadet 3 for my master bath and it has been going great for I think 5 years now. If the toilet ever gives me problems I will update this video and post a new one, but until then, I'm a happy flusher.

    • @cameraredeye3115
      @cameraredeye3115 Před 4 lety +1

      Well yeah, a Champion 4 has a flapper that's at least TWICE as big as other toilets. It barely takes ANY time for 5 quarts of water to flow through an opening 4" in diameter (vs. 3" or less for other toilets).

    It's not cleaner. In fact, if I could exchange this toilet, after we bought, I would. When you flush, leaves marks and it has so many cracks and crevices, it's harder to clean than and toilet i have owned. Convinced my husband to pay a bit more, to get this one, and I am so disappointed how yucky it is. And very had to install in the space ...by yourself. You need someone to look and see if it's lined up. Disappointed with American Standard with making this toilet and not giving it away, for free.
