I bought the hip hook a couple years ago. Using it at the wall was not enough, when I used it on the floor it was too much by the instructions that came with it. I found your video got it out again to try and am just laying on it gently, breathing with the tuck and tilt and very little leverage . Your instructions working much better, my Iliacus on both sides very tight but right side worse. I feel like I'm going to be able to get the Iliacus released slowly/eventually. THANK YOU SO MUCH CAT FOR GREAT INSTRUCTIONS!!!

when i presses it, my knee rises up/towards chest. (when sitting or lying down). is this what it does when the iliacus is tight?

    • @CatMatlock

That can happen, yes. This muscle draws the knee towards the chest in hip flexion. Yours is very tight if pressing it activated it enough to actually draw that knee up! Be a little gentle with your work, but do this a little each day. And also make sure you release your psoas as well!

With me it just feels like the tissue is melting and softening, not hard and knotted up anymore

Hi. When you have trigger points, they hurt to press on them. As they release, the intensity of the sensation gets less. Sometimes you feel the tissue start to twitch, and that's a good thing! And then the sensation you feel gets less or goes away altogether. If after. minute of steady pressure, maybe trying a little gentle movement, and deep breathing, if after all that the intensity stays the same, you should move off the point and try another point in the same muscle or try another muscle all together. Sometimes I move to the opposite muscle group if it's not releasing. For example, if I'm working in a quad on the front of the thigh and it's not releasing, sometimes I'll switch to softening the hamstrings, then I go back and the quad can release more easily.

    How much is it?

The Hip Hook AKA the Mark, is around $200. FYI I don't make the prices! This is not my company but it's an excellent tool if you struggle to release iliacus on your own. They also offer a set and some other things. Their products are well designed and they work. The investment is worth pain free living. Here's the link: shop.alethahealth.com/?ref=DsR2FLq6U84E9-
