      I own the same big red and love it. I just found out today that the
      Champion heat range number is: "8 is hotter than 7", i.e. the higher the number the hotter the plug runs. NGK however does it backwards, i.e. 7 is hotter than 8. Also the NGK DR8ES-L plug has a heat range half a point higher than 8. This is the meaning of the suffix -L. The DR8ES-L plug that your referred to in the youtube above can be interpreted as DR7.5ES. In other words hotter than DR8ES but not as hot as DR7ES. Your video was the best that I have seen on this subject and I have been watching for help on Big Red carburation for over a month. Great job, and professionially filmed.

    Bro !! This is the most intelligent explanation of the Big Red carburetor I have seen !! I have two Big Red 250s , one 200 es , and a Yamaha 200. They all run , but I struggle when I take carbs apart to know which jet does what. ThankYou!!!! And the tip on sparkplugs..Spot On !! Fixed my problems.

    Huge help! My carb started stumbling all of a sudden. This video definitely helped me take it off, clean it up and get it fixed up. Put it back together and runs like a champ! Thank you!

    By far and away the best I've found on Big Red "how to" videos. Thanks. We still run one of these. We get many laughs from folks in their 15K side by sides. I guess it never occurs to them that in the 40k for the 4 wheel drive truck which never gets muddy, the 10k trailer to haul the 15k side by side all added together would put their Child through a two year RN Program at some college and does not matter. Being a poor person, I just don't know any better, I guess, than to run my little old Yota 4 wheel drive and Big Red out of the back of it, without incurring massive debt. In this country if you can afford to make the commercial and get it air time you can sell anything. Thanks again for a very well done video. It is saved to my Favorites now and I subbed. Peace to you and yours son.

    Too bad you had to pull the carb again to adjust the metering rod but as Frank Sinatra sang "That's Life". For any of your Eliminators the carburetor pressure pump is Stens part #705-020 with a list price of $192 Cdn which includes the sales tax but since Eliminator Performance has set up an account with them you got the $110 Cdn price. Presently Stens offers free shipping with orders of $150 Cdn or more which is a great savings over time.

    where do the top 5/8 hose go for vent. One hose goes from crank case then has a T, lower hose goes down to vent . Top hose goes up behind carburetor then comes out under frame below front part of seat. I can smell gas fumes from it while its running. Does this top hose go somewhere? Fumes are stinking up my garage
    Thanks

    Is there supposed to be an o-ring and/or washer in with the spring on the air/fuel mixture screw?

    • @hassandawudi4810
      @hassandawudi4810 Před 2 lety

      Yep. And screwing in the mixture screw will make it leaner, not richer. Only 2 mistakes though.

    • @markalan4026
      @markalan4026 Před 2 lety +1

      To answer my own question, for the sake of future readers.
      Yes, there is supposed to be an O-ring and washer on the air/fuel mixture screw, along with the spring.
      The o-ring goes into the carburetor first, followed by the washer, then spring.
      Or to make it easier to understand, slide the spring onto the needle first, then the washer, and lastly the o-ring.

      Probably coil pack or grounding on kill switch. Try putting electrical tape in between handle bar and kill switch sometimes they ground to the metal bar and cut spark!

    Are the 4 stroke plugs the opposite of the 2 stroke plugs? Lower number is hotter Br8es is hotter than a br9es

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  Před 4 lety

      NGK and Champion are different. Champion plugs are hotter the higher they are, and NGK are hotter the lower they are.
