Can you Access Hidden Wipers? Wiper Servicing Mode - Kia Hyundai Class

- Welcome back to another Kia Hyundai Class! Today, Charlotte is demonstrating wiper servicing mode. One the new 2023 Sportage, the front and rear wipers can be hard to access. This makes it difficult to swap out the wiper blades and check their condition. By using wiper servicing mode, it becomes a lot easier to access the wiper arms.

These "How To" or "Guide" videos are a great supplement to a vehicle's Owners Manual, which should be the first thing a new owner references to familiarize themselves with their vehicle. It's almost as if manufacturers intended to make our ownership experiences easier by putting all of the necessary information in one place.
True, but those manuals are getting thicker and thicker every year. Honestly, a wiper blade check shouldn't require research, so thank you Charlotte...in advance, because my Kia is 8 years old, and the wipers aren't hidden, but my next Kia might have hidden wipers.
Great to see u again Charlotte 👌🏻💃👍🏻👏
So helpful! I own a 23 sportage and a 22 K5 GT.. also in Canbridge Ontario ..always wondered how these wipers can be removed .. finally got it! Thanks
Thanks for your comprehensive tutorials on Kia / Hyundai cars - I’m waiting (not) patiently for the arrival of my Sportage HEV GT Line S (U.K. spec) and feel I already know the car pretty well without even having it. Top 5 stars to you guys.
God bless and stay safe and well. Greetings from Cumbria in the U.K..
I agree with Trevor foggia. I too am waiting for my new Gt line, possibly from the same garage in Carlisle cumbria, and find these videos very informative. You and Gabi are great to watch. Could you two come over and take us for a spin? Lol
@@Dumfries474 wishful thinking Big B, wishful thinking.
What colour did you go for? I chose the metallic silver grey.
Are you from Carlisle itself or north, south, east or west of?
I’m close to St. Bees.
Yeah me too I got my Kia Sportage in finally we special ordered it it was the first one in Central Oregon 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro prestige and Wolf Gray and it came in damaged so the rear surround down on the bottom rear bumper instead of being black like the rest of the vehicle they accidentally quarter in " sprayed it the color of the vehicle and not just black so mine before even made a first payment had an upgrade and it makes it a one-of-a-kind😂😊
These how to videos are fantastic!
Omg I needed this, I couldn’t figure this out on the Tucson and it didn’t make sense in the manual
While it’s great to have a manual, we find that sometimes it’s much easier to see someone demonstrating. Which is exactly why we do these kind of videos! We’re so glad it helped!
Love this channel and I love my 2024 KIA Sorento Xline SX Pro thanks for the continuing helpful info.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you so much this is exactly what I needed to know concise and to the point thank you very much except maybe next time consider giving the sizes of the wiper blades I know it's easy to measure but somebody watching a video at 2:00 in the morning like I am and just be nice to get a quick size cuz I do need to replace my rear one but thank you very much again
Well Thank You I was sent in the wrong direction with 'other' how to videos. I have now learnt something else about my new Sportage.
Very important video thanks again
Excellent!
Thank you, for it was my very first concern. Now I know.
Stunning
Great video when will you have the restyled Seltos?
Any tips for easy cleaning the trough area where the front wipers rest? I can't get in there to clean out the leaves and sticks or pollen build up without raising the hood and getting out some paper towels. Then the stuff can fall into the engine if you're not careful.
I'll get a lot of pine needles and leaves that manage to find there way into every nook and space. The needles particularly somehow always manage to get in between the blade and the window so that when you use your wipers you get a streak or smear line that paths with the motion of the blade. (It also somehow always manages to be right in the direct line of eye sight)
So I try to reach over to pick these needles off but yes, it is hard to reach that area.
Can you make a video like this for the front and rear wiper on a 21-22 Sorento please. Thank you
1:25 One would have thought that the condition of the wiper would be obvious from the way it wipes. Given that the rubber is protected from even extreme weather conditions under the spoiler, replacement would probably normally be unusual.
In Winnipeg's extreme winter weather climate, many bring the wipers up into a standing position away from the windshield so ice doesn't form on the wipers overnight. Can that be done with this vehicle? Or can you keep them up with vehicle turned off? But just not pulled away from the windshield?
Hiiii any videos on snow chains?
Hi! How would you deal with icy rain or iced wipers when your vehicle has been parked for a long time in very cold climate? I'm from Quebec and with climate change, this type of precipitation is getting quite common. I've had my wipers so stuck in ice that I had to leave the heater and engine run for several minutes or use de-icing fluid to dislodge them on my current vehicle (which is an old Elantra Touring 2011), in addition to picking at it with my ice scraper to break the ice. I'm able to do so because they are accessible, but on the new Tucson or those models with hidden wipers, what happens if it's iced all the way below the hood and you can't put them in service mode because they are stuck? I'm sure someone will have to face this at some point, so how would you deal with it? Thanks!
Is this the same on the Tucson?
Great video but it’s incredible to me that this isn’t covered in my Tucson owner’s manual. You know, where you expect the info to be.
Thanks for the video. I’m able to get into the maintenance mode. But I could raise the rear wiper like the front ones. Could you let me know how to flip/lift the rear wiper arm? Thanks.
I’m not sure if I fully understand what you’re asking… if you are able to get the wipers into maintenance mode, the rear wiper will come down from top position. I’ve always just lifted it with my hand to get the rear wiper off and put on a new blade.
I just replace both in the front , the manual said 26”-16 , but the passenger side OEM is 17” lol
Thanks for sharing that useful information Charlotte. My wife has the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and that has the same rear wiper up the top. She would tell you that it's actually her worst feature on the car and doesn't like it at all! I understand it seems better for the winter perspective, here in Canada, but it doesn't seem to clean the rear window as well, as a wiper placement at the bottom. Just both our opinions of course!
Hi John, I totally understand that perspective. It seems to be another one of those items where people either love it or hate it. Thanks for sharing!
I think it needed to be mentioned that if you try to pull up the front wipers that it damages the paint on your hood and you can't just pull up the wipers.
Whoops! I thought I mentioned that, but it must not have made it in :)
Wish they did that on the Hyundai Ioniq 5.......
When I use my wipers and turn them off they do not go down! This happens when driving. Dangerous! So service mode on the car is backwards. It’s driving me crazy. You have to pull over and put in service mode and they go down the front ones go down and rears comes down 😡 so pissed the dealership had it rigged up someway so it wouldn’t happen. Until I messed with the rear one to work then this started!
Charlotte you're the other half of the dynamic duo with Gabi...BTW Gabi is doing the camera work? 😊
Yes I am! When charlottes in the video I’m the one filming and vice versa!
kinda weird how different it is from just normal service mode on my Hyundai Elantra GT N-Line
if you get a good set of wipers, you can easily get them over a year with no issues
Who changes rear wiper blades???😂
If the rear wiper is a distraction on the bottom of the back window for you then you should not be driving because the front windshield wipers are sitting out in plain view the whole time you’re driving and will be a total distraction all the time then. What a stupid comment that was in the first place. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
She meant it in a styling sense. The hidden wiper allows the body of the vehicle to maintain a sleek look with no wiper sticking out & distracting from the design flow.
We’d definitely hope a driver wouldn’t get distracted by a wiper while driving 😳
What is the benefit of the battery inside the trunk of the Sportage 23?
