The rangers managed to encircle half the legions army, and then completely sweapt through the remnants
I like how NCR never attacks New Vegas, their forces just spin around the city and stare at it for all 60 years

That was a huge comeback the NCR did on the Legion there. They were about to lose but then they encircled a majority of the Legion's army and massacred them then completely pushed them back and took over their territory. That was awesome and smart.
Yep they were almost wiped out. They called in an ally at the last possible moment which turned the tide.

It’s exactly what the courier tells Lanius. The NCRs biggest weakness is its massive size but it’s also its greatest strength. If the legion brakes threw the damn and takes the Mojave they will lose a war of attrition to the NCR.

I liked how when the legion pushed through NCR territory. A cut off force of the NCR held their ground against overwhelming odds, only to be relieved by the rest of the NCR forces. That was pretty cool to see.

I wonder why nobody made Victoria 2 mod with Fallout lore. Victoria engine seem interesting for a post-apocalyptic setting, given how it has mechanics for colonization, slavery, demographic and industrial growth, civilized and uncivilized nations and so forth.

@@bobincognito6239 The military part of victoria 2 is not really that bad, it's just a lot of micro management. late game victoria consists of fully manned frontlines like hoi4. Honestly vicky2 combat would probably fit into fallout more than hoi4 would.
@@bugisduckis try out a mod called apocalypse 1836 and you'll realize what they mean by the military/war part being bad (at least in my eyes). When the world is severely lacking in resources you can't field a basic army, even things like sheep are hard to get for irregulars let alone the guns.

The Legion gets wiped out by a single encirclement after basically winning the war... This is what happens when your best general and your strongest elite units are both serving a guy with a growing brain tumor.
That's the thing, california is massive and to get a full capitulation from the NCR would require the legion to overextended themselves like they did in this scenario

Not reqlly most factions are not very advanced in communication in times before modeen communication you wouldn't know whats going on in another area let alone across distances as large as america

Well, we can just assume that the tribes in the Midwest are not really advanced so instead of hundreds of random minor "nations" they can add a Wasteland Nation that can't produce anything or build anything, just like West Africa in The New Order, and, progressively, the lands will be slowly annexed by the "nations" around it.

I love how chill the east coast is compared to the west. The thought of republics and empires hasn’t even crossed their minds.
This mod is focused on the west side of the usa but thier is a sub-mod that has the east coast
The mod is constantly updating and will eventually reach the east coast, the next big update adds in nations to Texas, the rest of Colorado, Oklahoma, and west Louisiana.

What an absolute comeback for the NCR. I saw the NCR on the verge of defeat and went to comment RIP NCR and by the time I typed it the Legion was gone

That turned out almost exactly how the courier tells Lanius it would turn out with 100 barter or speech I can't remember. Literally you might win here but you aren't winning a land war in california.

@@demonic_myst4503 The border territories sure but if you play the game they outright say all their vets and heavy infantry is still in california. Only conscripts and penal groups are losing in the mojave.

I thought this was a good run. The pitched battle with the legion and the Rangers coming to save the day was something to watch. It was nice to see the Zetans, but I wish they were a little more active. I also thought it was interesting AI behavior to see the NCR swarm like bees every couple of months at the end there. Something to think about is trying to focus on the pitched battles. I am not sure how your capture software works, but it would be cool to have it slowdown a little and zoom in on the Legion/NCR war once you (the director) new that the outcome would be exciting.
That NCR comeback almost looks like something Rimmy Downunder might pull; Like in his Kaiserreich USA series as MacArthur.

There is in the next update they will expand to fully texas and oklahoma.

Those instances are when the AI has to travel by boat to get places. Some larger rivers are situated in as well as passing through the forbidden zone of the map, thus having them set sail throughout the metaphorical black hole that is the undeveloped part of the map.

This is what I imagined the war would go. The NCR is great at pulling false retreats and being very strategic. Even if you just examine the NCR troopers AI when they engage an enemy they move backwards as to make their rangers weapons more effective by getting further away. The NCR is too stable where the Legion was built by one man and can’t be held up once he is gone. Just like the Courier told Lanius, “If you push west, you will lose the East.

I liked watching the legion do laps around the gulf and the rivers
I think the way the legion ncr war ended went pretty accurately to how it could possibly go, the legion just destroys and doesn’t produce much I saw a shoddy cast video on it and they said it much better but basically the legion couldn’t sustain a war against the NCR because they are killing off the largest nation of man pool over ideology. But I could see the legion winning the war if it was a real conflict, but under some seriously specific conditions
The thing is Caesar doesn't want to destroy the NCR, he wants both the NCR and the Legion to become one, a synthesis by either conquering or being conquered. That's why in the final battle you don't convice Caesar to stop the war, you convince his Legate.
@@Amantducafe he wants the lands and people known as NCR to synthesize he still despised everything about the NCR and does want the ideological side of it gone, like when you question him about it he explains how he sees the ncr finding an imagine for themselves in a model that just failed... democracy.

How do you get the aliens to land? I never noticed that in the mod before.
Go to custom rules just before starting the game, you have Zeta Landing option
It can also happen by probing Area 51 with any faction after you take it over. That is done through the decisions menu, and its only a percentage chance to proc.
Dualmittens was playing a play through as the Desert Rangers(became Steel Rangers) and the Reavers triggered that event right as I was pushing into Caesars territory. Thought that would be the end but they’re seemingly content just chilling inside what used to be Reaver territory.

Only about 1/3-1/4 are lore and the rest are created by the devs. If you wanna play it, it's called old war blues in hoi4
