I have a guess as to why the hammer brother chest always spawns on the opposite side to Mario. I think it's because they didn't want it to spawn exactly on Mario, which could easily cause more bugs and glitches. So as an easy way to prevent this, they just made multiple spawn points instead of a single one, and choose one that Mario isn't at.
I’ve played this game for 30 years and never seen a coin ship. How did I not know this existed?????

beating the mini castles unlocks the path doors isn't getting the warp whistle in world one not 100% in the game because there door
