@@Clinterus In a race between Mitch and Poobear, the latter was bopped in a run and stomped crashing Mitch's console. Pretty sure Mitch just warped to catch up after resetting and the race continued. At least I think this is what they are referring to.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe in a GDQ of the past, mitch and poo were having a SMB3 race and I believe poo was behind and either messed something up or did something hype. In reaction, he stomped his foot on the ground and accidentally hit mitch's console, knocking his game out and killing his run
@@Clinterus SGDQ 2018, Poo was racing against Mitch in a SMW3 race, and knocked Mitch's console out of commission after stomping. It ended Mitch's run. It has gone memetic, with things like a Mario Maker level that crashes the Wii U when played.
What is fascinating about this race is the times gotten during the race are still within the top 16 of speed runs in this category and they did it live.
Lawso's just teaching me every clip I didn't know about in the game.
Looking at the angry sun level now I'm starting to wonder how I ever had troubles with it as a kid.
for me it was more because it was scary and intimidating-- an enemy you couldn't 'kill' and the concept of a killer sun-- something that normally brings joy and brightness-- was just... extra creepy. So despite its lack of actual difficulty it just tripped you up. That's my theory anyway, bc I experienced the same thing.
@@twally87 you can easily kill it with a koopa. I was never scared of it, when I played smb2 before and there was a an ACTUALLY invincible enemy of phanto.

These races are always my favorite part of gdq.
I felt so bad for Pooh. He was super tilted but played through like a champ.
These speedrun races are really fun to watch. I don't care about who finishes it first, I enjoy watching everyone doing their best.

Im confused how mitch rocketed past Poo. Seemed like he was a level ahead, then out of nowhere, Mitch is.

Mitch: Hammer bros, *Hammer bros*, 3-6 (cloud skip), 3-8, fortress.
Poo: Hammer bros, 3-6 (cloud skip), *3-7*, fortress. 3-8.
Doing the hammer bros was probably a bit faster than 3-7, but Mitch got perfect hammer bros placement RNG and the speedrunning mindset is so about perfection that having back-up plans for bad luck is its own separate monumental task. From that point, Poo's instincts as a high-level speedrunner were probably torturing him telling him to reset and try for better RNG.

routing differences, he didn't actually catch up. He had to do 7-Airship while the other runners skipped it

Okay you’re the last one I’m going to reply to on this, hope some people read lol.
As they explain at the beginning of the run. Like... one minute in. They are doing all forts. As you can see in the middle of the screen in the race. It’s a category of SMB3.
On my NES, if I use the whistle on the first map, I can only warp to 1-2-3.
Why don’t they just warp to world 8 with the whistle?
