Joel, don’t plant the tree saplings all near each other, you won’t get as many leaves because when one grows, it gets rid of the other leaves, when you plant them all at least 7 blocks apart, you can get more leaves, and thus, a higher chance of getting more saplings.

Currently playing on "Desert Lakes" which has no villages. The start was extremely difficult (had to find a mineshaft for wood), and it's still tough, but I've already went to the nether for wood and life is a bit better.

The double layering thing is really smart. Usually I do this when I don't have a lot of dirt so I fill in creeper holes with leaves and place dirt on top of it, it saves a lot of dirt that I can use for terraforming.

If you want a really tough one, try 100 days in a mooshroom fields only world. I believe the only way to get wood there is to find enough ruined portals to build your own portal and get wood from the nether. Or a wandering trader ig.

Funny thing to note, Yesterday was my first day back at school after 3 months of being out due to an injury. I was in the class I suck at most (math) and I was just listening to this video and somehow got a 100 on an assessment I took and once again may I remind you. I was out for 3 months and it was really difficult algebra work. You must have given extreme luck, Joel.
