there's plenty of pro surfers that are shredded, Italo Ferreira, Zeke Lau, Laid Hamilton etc. there's also a lot of surfers who look a bit chubby and they still rip. Surfing isn't limited to one body type, because its about coordination, flexibility and ocean knowledge - something that you can have whether you are out of shape or shredded.
Shredded surfers like Italo Ferreira, Zeke Lau & Laid Hamilton weren't ripped when they first started surfing . They got jacked after they've become so good at surfing and developed skills and muscle memory. For somebody who's already jacked it's difficult to learn surfing unless they are very flexible. Same goes for the chubby surfers.
@@hellrule18 might have more to with the fact that everyone who is good st surfing started doing it as a child, and children cant really be muscular
I think it’s important to note however that shredded or not, all of the people given as an example here are in top surfing shape with mega paddle endurance
Best thing about being shredded is getting into waves easier and less fatigue

I do some competitive bodybuilding and can never understand how I get exhausted from paddling so quick. Especially in the rear delts, neck, and traps. I always see these old guys or out of shape people paddling laps around me.
because surfer muscle are endurance muscle fiber. On the other hand, bodybuilders are strength muscle fiber. There is difference in training to perform and training to look good
