I am a die hard Ronaldo fan from 2017 but to be honest Messi is mostly considered The Goat of football by majority of fans and football legends.. Ronaldo is good but Messi is more complete and by far the best player ever to play this game .. So if I'm being honest yes Messi is actually the goat..

Hey thanks man! We've never followed soccer ever. So we recently decided it would be fun to start diving in a little and see what all the hype is about. So far we're really enjoying it!
Ronaldo gets compared to Messi a lot because they both have scored an insane amount of goals but Messi is the more complete footballer. Besides scoring goals he is also an insane playmaker. Ronaldo is incredibly athletic though and is definitely worth a watch. Some other players you may find interesting are Ibrahimovic (unique player, scored some crazy goals), Neymar (creative, all-rounded player) and Suarez (probably the best striker of the passed decade). And if you want to go back in time a little, Ronaldinho was for sure the most entertaining player in the 2000-2010 era.

Ronaldo is a monster of a player, he doesn't have weaknesses, he has a great mentality and a great goalscorer. He is one of the greats, he has the most goals.
But objectively, statistically as well, messi is just better, this debate is this insane because they played at the same time in spain for the biggest rival clubs in history, barcelona and real madrid and they scored an insane amount of goals, no one else come close.
But messi is the better dribbler and better playmaker. He scores more goals than a pure goalscorer and assists more than a pure playmaker.
Statistically only thing ronaldo has on messi is headers and penalties.
Messi has better goal per game ratio, he has a better goal conversion rate from in and out of the box etc. (There are so many more statistics in football lol)
Messis dribbling is the most magical, even for the biggest ronaldo fan, this isnt a debate. Ronaldo does 3 tricks to run past 1 player while messi does 1 trick(body feint) to leave 4 5 players behind.
Anyways football is fun you should watch more messi highlights because really this isnt even %0.5 of them, he has done this every week for at least 10 years.

Messi is a genius is not comparable to Ronaldo or any player, he's the best passer of the game, he's the best dribble of the game he scores as much as the best scorers of the game, he's one if not the best playmakers of the game, it sucks that people compare Ronaldo to Messi because it feels like if you say Messi is better you are somehow degrading Ronaldo, which is not the case, Ronaldo will go down as one of the all time greats but Messi is something that I don't think we'll see again, at least not in my lifetime.
