  • The Nigerian Who Rode From London to Lagos is a video about Mr. Kunle Adeyanju who is an adventurer who rode on his bike from Lagos to London passing through some of the most treacherous landscapes in a bid to end polio in Africa. I sat down with him to share his story and experience traveling across Africa and this is how it went.

"Moshood Adisa Olabisi Ajala, also known as Ọlábísí Àjàlá, was a Nigerian journalist, travel writer, actor, and later Lagos socialite. He is famous for being a globe-trotter.
On April 27, 1957, Àjàlá began a trip "around the world" from London. These would form the basis for his 1963 biography called "An African Abroad", with an introduction by Tom Mboya. He planned to visit forty countries. To write the book, Àjàlá had visited India, Soviet Union, Iran, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, and finally, Australia. He travelled round all of them on his Vespa scooter, which had famous autographs of the famous people he had met". Copied from Wikipedia

Funny enough how we stumbled on this video. My 10 year old son was talking about how far New Zealand is from London and could take months to cycle there. Then I told him of a Nigerian man who cycled from London to Nigeria but not harmed with the details. So we decided to just watch to see how long he did it but alas we left blown away. His story is so inspiring and captivating that we stayed glued to the end. Every statement he said was a life lesson and gem. We learnt a lot about resilience, forward planning, courage, commitment, consistency. What a life, this man is living and not just existing. Continue to be an inspiration to the world, Sir. Kindly consider making a book out of this, the world needs this. Big love to you sir and weldone to Tayo for such a beautiful interview. Such a good host you are. Born and bred in Ilorin as well.

Tayo, this brother is beyond inspiring. What he said about Burkina- Faso is said of many regions around the world where certain world bodies label an area to be dangerous. And for some who may say the warning is for Europeans, then you simply have to watch multiple white youtubets traversing all parts of Africa with minimal issues. His statements and life lessons are timeless gems. On my first visit to the continent many of my friends in the west ( USA) were constantly asking, " Are you not afraid??" , the question was constant because the severance of knowledge about that land the west has deemed as the ' Dark Continent' is why I could understand their fears. My trip there was awesome and completely transformed my views on all things African and I now realise the wrong story tellers could and will block you from exploring lands of my ancestors. So much wisdom and depth was shared in this piece Tayo it would take weeks to dissect and comment on the masterclass of this awesome Nigerian gentleman whose fears were also washed away in the face of the bountiful LOVE of his African brothers and sisters who had his back on the London to Lagos mission...OMG!! Please Tayo run this brothers story or this vlog over to your best Nollywood movie house or get on the phone with Tyler Perry or Spike Lee asap!!

Living the life...Mr Kunle Adeyanju is rare. People like him are very very few... A complete masterpiece with so much talent. I was so motivated just listening to him...The Christopher Columbus of our time. Life in entirety indeed is an adventure, too bad many of us are just existing, not living.

Thank you for highlighting his journey. Normally accomplishments of us Africans don't get media coverage because we don't tend to take it upon ourselves to do it for our own. What Mr. Adeyanju has accomplished is amazing and i am happy that he is being celebrated.

Wow! Didn't know this side of the story. The journey was not an easy one. The Maritanian/Morocaan border story was really scary. But i love his take on the false narrative of Africans by the western media and security architecture. Beautiful interview by tayo Aina. The music playing in the background is just perfect.
