There's an enchantment that you can get for boots called "Frost Walker". It instantly freezes any water you try to walk on.
Oh damn, I didn't even know that haha.
Martin is using two specific things:
1. Optifine, specifically for access to the Complementary Shaders pack that makes the game look the way it does here. (Solid visual upgrade, 5/5 would recommend if you’re not on a absolute potato of a PC. Don’t need super-high-end or anything, if it runs basic Minecraft fairly smoothly you’re good to go.)
2. Probably ReplayMod, so he can get his cinematic shots.
Beyond that, it’s a vanilla Minecraft server.
37:23 that’s the Ice Walker enchantment, any water within a few blocks gets turned into ice so you can walk on water. Rather niche enchantment but covering large distances to find the stronghold fits in that niche nicely.
I started laughing when i heard you say "Well at least it wasn't very far into the game, they could do that shit at the ender dragon" that felt liek foreshadowing
The “door method” involves placing a door underwater; water can’t exist in the same two blocks as a door, so you create an instant air pocket for yourself. Little exploit that Mojang/Microsoft/whoever probably wont ever change, it’s been around for ages now.

The “boat method” is the premiere technique for farming endermen, theyre absolute morons and will charge directly at you. So you slap a boat down in front of them and they charge into the boat and get stuck in it, unable to exit. You can then pick away at them from outside their melee range. Stress-free ender pearl farming, I believe this was the prevailing speedrunner tactic before you could trade with piglins for your ender pearls.
Dead bush is hilarious, nothing Martin said about it was incorrect 🤣 technically speaking you can only get it as an item in a chest, you can’t get it from breaking desert bushes or even with Silk Touch. So it actually is quite rare.
