- This is the first video of a four part series in Northern Europe. We flew from the Twin Cities to Copenhagen, just beating out the FAA nationwide grounding and explored the capital city of Denmark over four days in January. It was winter and mostly rainy and in the forties (F). This was the first time outside of North America for the boys and Copenhagen is a great first European destination. The have a rich history and culture and English is very common. Thanks for watching and subscribe for future adventures!

I took my wife and kids there two weeks ago. The biggest takeaway for me was how genuinely friendly people were. Even the border guards let my 5 year old stamp our passports. Denmark is recommended by me! 🇩🇰
Agreed! It's a great destination full of wonderful people.
Glad you enjoyed Denmark
@@Theunknownman52 same
As a danish person, id like to say that youre welcome back any time :D
Have you done this - if so which is the best train
Dane here.
Fun fact: The guards at Amalienborg is top trained soldiers. They look goofy and harmless but they don't mess around. They will take action if a situation arises. 🤫
Fun to see the family visit Copenhagen, sorry it was in the middle of the winter. This is when Copenhagen is in hibernation, if you come in the spring or summer, the city is a lot more fun and the kids can go swim in the harbour, visit Tivoli etc.
We still loved it. Being from Minnesota it felt like home in the winter.
Godt sagt🤗
Just love your sweet kids - amazing that the youngest one wanted to come back in 3 seconds even though he was already here :) Hope you all return
Would love to get back there sometime!!
The guy in the clock in Amsterdam airport was actually filmed with a real artist painting on each time segment and took 12 hours to complete. So in a way, it isn’t fake😃
Great video as well!
What!?! That's crazy.
Thank you so much for visiting our beautiful country. I think that Denmark are most beautiful in spring and summer. Our winter can be very grey.. Come back another time. Sweet family :)
Thank you very much for your positive view of our lovely little Denmark.
I'm from Denmark and have visited Copenhagen a few times. To be honest, I also think it's awesome, but I find it challenging because of my social anxiety. What I loved most about the video is when you guys visited the museum because it was filled with information about the history and vikings that was so cool! I would also suggest visiting the Moesgaard Museum, which is a huge place with a mix of histories. I may travel to Copenhagen this year and the zoo is such a lovely place and also because it has pandas, one of my favorite animals. also, the area where the queen is are really cool because guards are keeping it secure and there is various music playing there. Also, when we were in Copenhagen, my mother asked to see the Little Mermaid, but I refused because I was too exhausted from walking every day. But, I may consider the next time when we travel together because I keep thinking about it. I hope you all had a great time in Copenhagen.
We had a blast - hope you can get there this year. Thanks for the museum recommendation!
This is probably one of the best "visit Denmark" i have ever watched,
Wow - Thanks for the kind words!
super cute narration from the kids too, happy you enjoyed Copenhagen
Edit: If you want to know more about the artist who did the drawings of the kings and queens, his name is Jesper Ejsing and he is my favorite artist, he paints a lot of fantasy art for Magic the Gathering and has done work for Dungeons of Dragons aswell as World of Warcraft.
We loved it! We definitely want to go back sometime.
Thank you so much for coming the long way to our little country.
I am incredibly proud to be a Dane.
I am so happy to hear your reviews about our capital and the things it can offer.
next time you are here. then come and visit Jutland.
Best regards, Michael

"There's a fine line between 'Little Mermaid' and 'Seamonster'." - HAHA, you made my day! 😂🤣
😂
The Mermaid was made after a live model, so she is the size of a mermaid!
Love the way you guys captured Copenhagen, fun and informative. 5 Thumbs Up....
Thanks so much!!
Watching here never stop ....👋💕🐈⬛🙋
Very good work with the filming of beautiful Copenhagen
Guys, Guys, Guys - I think that I love You!
I have lived from 0 to 50 in Copenhagen, but somehow you just shed a new light on my hometown.

😊 So glad you enjoyed the video... we loved our time there! Thanks for the love!
Glad you had fun in our lovelyy København,, nice edit. Thumbs up
Well, actually. The elephants represent Jackobsens children. He had 8. 4 died, 4 survived. The survivors got an elephant each, and the dead ones got their own bell in the Jesus church. Absolutely beautiful church, and the bells are still in use as far as I know. I am not saying that what you said was wrong, but this is the story I’ve been told by a Carlsberg employee.
Thanks for sharing! That's what we heard as well.. we did a follow up video last week with a little more about what we learned. Didn't know about the bells though. Thanks for watching!!
Incredibly underrated channel! Would definitely recommend Odense as it is the third largest city in Denmark and has amazing architecture!
Thank you very much - great tip!!
Behaved children and great video, lovely to watch!
Glad you loved it - thanks so much for watching.
Copenhagen is an amazing city! You did well at showcasing that.

Thank you for visiting my amazing country. Sounds like you had a wonderful time here. Denmark is way better in the summer, but I'm glad you enjoyed it this time in the year! I'm looking forward to your next video. :)
We appreciate that! Hoping to get back in the summer sometime. Cheers!
come in the summer, and visit Legoland, and you forgot Tivoli, one of the oldest Amusementparks in the world
Agreed!! We have to get back in the summer with the boys!
Tivoli is the second oldest amusementpark. "BAKKEN" is the oldest. Both in Copenhagen/ Greater Copenhagen.
Glad to see you had a great time in my country, the video was well done. Estonia is the place where our flag fell down to us from the sky, during a battle "thats the legend anyways" and fun fact, the Danish flag is the oldest in the world.
Love this! Thank you for sharing :) ❤x
Thank you!!!
Cool fun video! Well done and interesting facts and sights!
Much appreciated!!
Great to hear you had a good time here in Denmark 😊 Next time try exploring other parts of the country.
We would love to get back and explore outside of Copenhagen someday. Thanks for watching!!
Great video - crisp and creative.

Amazing video! Ive lived in copenhagen pretty much my entire life and I learned a thing or 2 by watching the video! Also great production!

Aw thanks so much! We loved Copenhagen... would love to get back sometime and explore more of Denmark.
A super nice and really charming family.
Aw thanks!
I like the video , 👍🏼
Keep going
Thank you!!! 🙏
Viking ship, not boat😉 And open faced sandwiches is the traditional norm here in Scandinavia. We don’t really use the word sandwich either unless the American style one. I’m Norwegian and we eat so much bread as well as being the nr. 1 coffee drinking country int he world apparently. We don’t have free food or hot meals in schools, so the norm is to bring your own lunch/lunch box, and it’s usually bread, and condiments aka the open faced sandwich. But now days many has cafeterias where they sell or make baguettes, buns etc. Or if you live in the big city, you just go to the nearest Deli, 7/11 or grocery store and buy your lunch.
This video is very well produced!
Thanks!
Love too see my country through foreigner’s eyes ❤️
thanks for loving our place :) subbed!

Hello from Arizona wishing you all amazing adventures and much success with your channel ☮️💟✝️👍
Hello to you as well - thank you for watching and for the well wishes!
awesome, dane and a starwars nerd here, u just got a like just for the pog 😀
The porg was indeed a great companion!
I’m going to Copenhagen in a couple weeks with some friends!
This was really helpful thank you!
Awesome! Hope you have an amazing time!
You should try Denmark in the summer - everything just get different with the sun! It's like magic how you will experience the change. Try to start in Copenhagen then Odense, Billund (Legoland), Aarhus and end in Skagen (walk the dunes of Raabjerg Mile and set you feet where the two seas meet) . ❤️ Your family look so great - nice to see.
We'd love to venture outside Copenhagen in better weather - hopefully someday!!
@@wildgooselife I agree, Denmark is so so much more then just Copenhagen.
I'm danish an i have never been in Copenhagen.! Not worth it for me. Denmark has alot to offer. Pretty much anywhere! Alot of history. Buildings. Cool stuff all over. And yeah a much visit is Legoland Billund! Then Screw Copenhagen 😆😵 haha.
Egeskov Slot. Big castle museum 🏰
Ribe oldest city in Scandinavia.
This is just my favourites 😃 but there's plenty too look at. It would take many trips. To descover it all. Many many years.
Interesting seeing Copenhagen from your point of view. It was a nice video. Try visiting during the summer next time
Thank you for watching! We really hope to return in the summer sometime.
Love the video and just subscribed! You should do a video introducing your family, who you are, and why you’re traveling!! I love your style but I want to know about you all as well!
Right on - thank you! We've talked about an intro video... might do one in the future. Appreciate you following along!!
Great video. Keep up with this high production level and you'll gain a lot of subscribers in no time. Cheers from Copenhagen!
Cheers!
Glad to see that you had a good time in Copenhagen! If you ever return to visit again, may I suggest go to the 'mainland' (Jylland) to visit Aarhus (Amusement park, Aros (Museum), Den Gamle By (Outdoors museum'), then trail down to Billund (Lego main office and factory, as well as Legoland amusement park), and if you are into Vikings, then further down, Ribe, one of the oldest cities in Denmark, (with a grand Viking museum, and sometimes open-air market).
And also the old Warship, Jylland, built in 1860 and preserved in what looks like a drydock. It fought with honors at "The Battle of Helgoland" and defeated a Prusian/Austrian Fleet by that.
The interesting city of Copenhagen - nice video Wild Goose.
Many thanks!
you're welcome@@wildgooselife
Hello i love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ copenhagen l am from morroco
The Viking ship in the National Museum is the longest and largest ever found! It was found by accident, digging a new "Viking Harbour" to the side of "Ship Museum" in Roskilde, with the famous 5 ships, which was found as a barrier in the fiord. Its keel is full length, so we know how long it was. And we have more Roman swords found in Denmark, as sacrifices, than in the rest of the Roman Empire at all!!
At several places an Iron Age army has invaded Denmark and became beaten. At Nydam on Als their ships was taken to the moor and many weapons became sacrificed to Holy Powers in the moor! As also in Illerup to the north. It was insane amounts of valuable weapons which became bent and ruined before the sacrifices! But for a good reason. The locals had won!! And I suppose they kept a lot of the good stuff?
Sadly the mostly well preserved ship from Nydam moor became stolen by the Germans after the lost 1864 war and it is now exhibited at Gottorp in Germany!
Come back in the spring or summer. Its a totally diferent experience
Thank you for visiting and do come again!
We loved it - thank you!
Speaking as a Dane, if you decide to return you should definitely go in the summer time. Copenhagen transforms during the summer, completely different experience.
I agree!
Hope you enjoyed the trip. My wife and I is married at the Yellow "castle" in Frederiksberg Garden. There's a church inside as well. And a bonus info - it's the military academy of Denmark and been it for a couple of hundred of years. 🥳
That's amazing! Must have been a beautiful wedding!!
As a Dane, I'm happy that you had a nice trip to Copenhagen :)
A year ago, my son was actually one of the Royal Life Guards, guarding Amalienborg, Rosenborg and other places.
You mentioned the train trip to the "LEGO area" ... it is in Billund, where the second largest airport is. And of course the original LEGOland is there.
That's so great! What an honor for your son. Another viewer mentioned the Queen doesn't stay in Amalienborg.. any idea who's there when the flags are raised?
@@wildgooselife Normally when the flags are raised and the guards are there she is present
@@wildgooselife
The Guards are always there.
But when the band is part of the changing, it's the so called "kongevagt".
That, and the Royal flag, shows that HM the Queen was at the Castle.
@@wildgooselife She resides many places, but Amalienborg is home. By resides I mean like staying at other castles during the year, like in the summer where she resides at Marselisborg in Århus, our 2nd largest city. Or on her yacht while traveling the Kingdome (Greenland and farao islands are part of the Danish Kingdome) and visiting parts of Denmark that isn't close to where she would otherwise reside or live. She also have a chateau in France where she visited a lot with her late husbond (who was French) - I dont know how often she has been since his passing - but she could if she wanted too. So yeah, she lives at Amalienborg, but has been (or is) traveling a lot and thereby not always "home" =)
@@MontyDK1 And the mounted statue in the middle of Amalienborg, is one of the finest ever made, by a French artist, J. Saly, whom it took a very long time to make it!
Nice video! Thanks for visiting my country!
More facts from Denmark. Bluetooth is named by a danish King called Harald Blåtand 😎
That's crazy! We had to look that one up 🤯
Hey Im from denmark and i Think you guys filmed some amazing things about the country. I loved the viking thing at denmarks national museum and ive been there to👍
Thank you! And agreed, the viking exhibit was epic!!
Next time. Visit Legoland Billund. The first Legoland ever of cause... Im a Dane. And I have never been in København. Haha. The rest of Denmark is better in my opinion. There's alot of things too look at. In our small country. Pretty much anywhere 😃
There's many awesome museum. Old castles. Other fun parks. Great stuff.
the yellow castle is actually the Danish army military academy now. where they educate first lieutenants and captains.
Copenhagen is so beautiful in summer. I don't get why anyone would visit the other 11 months of the year.
It’s still a lovely place in the winter, but we’d love to get there in the summer sometime. Thanks for watching!!
You need to come back in the summer
I'm only about five minutes into this video but excellent editing! Really a cut above most CZcams videos. This makes me interested in downloading some video editing software. Bravo.
Thank you!! And yes - you should definitely start editing!
If you did go again, you should try the summer, it’s a different experience with a lot of outdoor activities!
That's what we hear - thank you for watching!!
You guys should really return to Denmark sometime in the summer and visit Jylland rent a vacation home visit our beautiful west coast beachs see the old ww2 bunkers. Visit Legoland or other amusement parks. Me and my girlfriend is living in Denmark, and we have a plan to travel across Denmark with bus to see the landscape and visit all the different towns all the way from Ribe (syd Jylland) to Aalborg (nord Jylland)
That sounds amazing!
Wow the magnificent content on youtube that I have been watched🤍🤍. Try to visit Indonesia, you all guys will see the beautiful scenery also 😊
You're so kind - Thank you! What part of Indonesia would you recommend we look into?
And the Guards hats are made from a bears fur. And The Mermaid is the size of a mermaid, of course! And she has travelled to China some years ago. How many countries has the Statue of Liberty visited?
(Fact about the rundetaarn) People actually used to jump off the building thinking they would survive, though that was like a million years ago. Yeah.. I'm pretty sure they did not have a fence. I'm not sure about this fact, but you could always search it up if you're curios.
That's crazy!
Thanks for visiting Denmark, and please come again, Copenhagen is cool but the rest of Denmark has a lot to offer too, so glad you guys liked Copenhagen tho :0)
Yes!! We hope to make our way back sometime and explore beyond Copenhagen. Maybe even when it's warmer. 😁
@@wildgooselife Copenhagen in the summer is so nice
Come back in the summer and try the pork roast sandwich under a tree with some music
You guys are, I wanna say extremely cool, but I'll just say, cool. You have something special between you, that comes through in a way taht is so nice, it's, well, extremely cool. I'm not gonna put my finger on it, it'll only turn out to be my foot like in a dream, so, nice cool, nice cutting, nice everything. Good!
Glad you enjoyed it - appreciate the feedback!!
By the way, I was a Tambour in the Royal life guard, and today i live just aside Nyhavn. And your are right, Denmark is amasing. The same is your country. For the last 12 years, i have a vercation in your country,.
I’m from Denmark 🇩🇰 😊
Great video and I'm so glad you enjoyed our "little" country😀 But, if I can give you some pointers on places when you come back. Yes, copenhagen is our capital and is filled with history. But you mentioned Vikings. There's is Ribe, that was the first viking settlement here, Roskilde was a big trading city and later, burial site for our former kings and queens. We have the "old city" in Aarhus that dates back hundreds of years and is still standing. We have kronborg castle in Helsingør where i'm from, where Holger the dane, or Holger Danske, sits in the tombs waiting to fight if Denmark is invaded again. We have several viking museums all over Denmark and several churches going back ages, in Roskilde, Viborg, Aarhus, helsingor, Ribe. If you cime back, don't just limit it to copenhagen, if you wanna see danish history😉
So much to explore!! Hopefully we'll get back. And thanks for all of the recommendations... very much appreciated.
Hi, im from Denmark! And if you guys are Comming back then theres also a city called Aarhus,i Think its a great city!😊
Adding it to our list! Thank you for watching!!
As me who live in Denmark i can recognize the buildings
Glad you enjoyed it, shame you chose this time of year though. Mind you, Copenhagen is the most "international" place in Denmark - and thereby, by default, the least "Danish".
From the round tower you kan see all rhe way to Sweden
I’m from Danmark
you should have tried the Andersen bakery at Islands Brygger. They are the ones making the buns for the gasolingrill
Good to know!!! Thanks so much!
@wild goose : really great videos ....what camera do you use pls??
Thank you for watching!! Normally, Sony gear.., but to travel light in winter, this trip to Europe was solely shot on an iPhone 14 Pro.
I can go out my front door and i am there
Lucky ;)
All of you Are always welcome back to vist us again in Demark. 🇩🇰🇺🇸
Appreciate that - we feel/felt so welcome in Denmark.
It is a mine, a sea mine
Nice video, really glad you like it here! As a Copenhagener I of course love my city and it is nice to see people enjoying it for the first time :D Is there a particular reason a lot of tourists have started to go here in the winter? I feel like we have two tourist seasons now and it just really made wonder because it baffles me that people would want to go here when it is cold and dark all the time? (Side note about the title, skål is NOT a greeting like 'cheers' in Scandinavian languages. It is a word you use when you drink, only.)
Can't speak for all, but for us the timing was perfect with schooling schedules. Plus we're from Minnesota so cold and dark is familiar. 🤣 ... My guess overall is airfare costs... it's cheaper in the winter. And good to know on skål.. maybe better to say "In the Land of Skol" ? It's more a reference to our hometown football team with their 'Skol' chant. What do you think?
@@wildgooselife "skol" would be a greeting even less, it's not a word in danish. The closest thing is "skole", which means 'school'.
@@amandaidberg7629 American football throwing it all off! 🤣... Here's to always learning!
