MAGNAFLOW 10416 VS FLOWMASTER 40 SERIES 1969 FIREBIRD 400

- I ran the FLOWMASTER 40 series on my 1969 FIREBIRD for almost 10 years, well since I've owned the beast. My neighbors have probably gotten over me starting it up all the time so I decided to change up the sound on them. Ended up going down to the local autozone and picked up these MAGNAFLOW 10416 muffler and gave them a go, they sound really nice but that's for you to decide!
WOW, those Magnaflow really did it. Sounds as beautiful as the car looks.. I put Magnaflows on EVERYTHING I own, even my lawn mower, LOL.

I'm about to put a set of these Magnaflows on my Tundra and I was wondering how they'd sound on a V8. Thanks putting up this before and after. Much appreciated, and I really like that old Pontiac. We were a Pontiac family in the 60's, 70's and 80s.
Nice Firebird. 👍 Looking myself for a 66 Gto. Hard to beat a glass pack sound for me. No more Flowmasters. I'm done with the no tone drone.

Nice video good comparison I was going to originally go with magna flow’s but was just doing research I’ve had flow masters before but magna flow really have a clean Chris sound sounds perfect

I'm a flowmaster guy myself but flowmasters only sound best with full lengths rather than axle dumps. Still would pick the 40's over the latter though
The Magnaflow has a more low tone clear sound.
The Flowmaster has more of a rumble, and bit higher pitched sound.

One of my my all time favorite cars! And yeah, sounds great. Can't say I'm a fan of the matte paint, but I'm old so I like to see these cars finished as we would have done them up back in the day.

I might add that the magnafows sound better with some length of pipe past the muffler. 3' to 6' of 2.5 - 2.75 inch pipe will give it a deeper rumble than you have with the turn downs. That and if the exhaust exits the back of the car you won't have issues like rust or soot on your undercarriage.
How loud are these compared to the flowmasters? Magnaflows are much more my taste, sounds amazing
Omg i was literally days away from buying flowmasters after days researching now nop definitely geting magna flow. Only downside inheard glass or wool in dagrades after few years??

Great comparison, thanks for sharing. I've changed my motor combo. around and plan on changing my exhaust as well. So with that being said I don't own any MF or FM and you have me thinking hard about the MF 10416. I'm curious about your thoughts on being inside the car between the two now ??? I feel like the MF sounds better and lets the "motor" do the talking whereas the FM is a higher pitch tin can sound. In my option, some people like more noise because they have less motor.
I can't help to think this thing would sound even better with some full length tailpipes....hint hint.

Depends if you like the marbles in a can noise or deeper throaty sound.
Are you saying the flows have a deeper throatier sound because the flows sound tons better than the magnaflow imo.
@@unknown9218 magnaflow has a deeper rasper sound. The flows have a dry high pitched tingy sound. But black widows sounds even better. Closer to open header sounding
Did you notice any power gain doing away with the Flowmaster's or any weight saving.

@danielkohler3458 Kinda. So both are straight through design mufflers. Glassworks are round and Magnaflows can be round or oval. Instead of fiberglass they have sound deadening material with steel wool mesh.
Are those the MagnaPacks? It sounded much better than the Flowmaster.

Magnaflows everyday. flows are painted steel that will rust

the MF sound much better, i did the switch, magnaflow and dynamax straight throughs are supreme. btw you might have an pesky exhaust leak
