14:47 *everything* takes more time than it should, especially when you're working on 80s European cars. Been there, done that. You remind me sooo much of myself in my 20s.
The Euro-spec headlights (unequal size) look so much better on these cars than what we got stuck with in the US. I owned '85 and '87 535i cars and loved them both.

Everything is well and good, but I would recommend using E34 front struts along with 525i brakes for the front and rear. If you can source E34 540i brakes then that would be even better. As for the suspension - I recommend using sport shocks along with the sport top mounts which will lower your front a little, to top it off get rid of the 9mm upper spring pad and get the 3mm one sitting there, that's an additional 6mm drop.

I give you a ton of credit for doing all the work to pull the strut housings and stuff, but I would've just done the extra work the first time and shortened/ welded the housings, stuck some bilstein inserts in there and grabbed a set of sleeve coilovers from ground control or some cheap 'circle track' QA1's or whatever. If you don't want to shorten the housings and run coilovers, the springs that have the biggest drop and ride pretty well are the Vogtlands IIRC. Been a long time since I owned or worked on any e28's. I ran a few different setups on mine when I owned it many years ago. The best adjustable budget setup is probably some bilstein sports, cut housings and a sleeve style coilover of your choice welded on. There are a bunch of threads on the forums discussing the different routes that people have gone. I'm also pretty sure that the Porsche 911 uses a shorter insert that'll fit into your housings and give you the proper amount of suspension travel. You'll have to do a search and see what you come up with. Don't forget a set of hubcentric centering rings for those style 32's as well. They have the bigger 74.1mm centerbore that the e39's have and you'll probably get some vibration or shimmy without them. Take care.

Next time, hold the strut upside down and clamp the hexagon of the cap into the vice. The turn the strut wit some lever, which you can easily bolt to the lower mounting holes. It is way easier to apply force this way than at the cap.

Great again, Memphis. That will be a gorgeous car when you are done. Fabulous choice of wheels, too. Personally, I love that stock ride height. Purposeful but athletic. Back when this car was new, BMW was at the top of their game. They knew what they were about when it came to ride, handling, and road clearance compromises. Form was WAY behind function, as it should be on a car engineered for the road, not the show circuit. The newer ones, with the lack of suspension travel and steam roller tires, and not as good in real life. In fact, I very nearly crashed into the back of a fancy 7 series a couple of weeks ago. His fact BMW lost traction just as I was accelerating in my ancient, and stock, Volvo 240 wagon on winter tires.

I am in Canada and have a Boxster and Audi. German cars are definitely, hum, wonky and over engineered but fun to drive (for ex. who would ever reasoned using wheel bolts instead of lugs was a good idea should be shot! LOL! Have you ever tried to change a tire at -25c in a snow storm in the dark 290km away from civilization in wolf infested provincial park? Speed is of the essence!). Anyway, wonderful work and channel.
