My sister was killed by a drunk driver just over a year ago also in Michigan, I hope this woman never gets out of prison.

@@donnabowman9059 Thanks, the guy is still in jail for now at least but the way our "justice" system seems to work now a days I don't anticipate him staying as long as he deserves to.
I'm so sorry about your sister. This is beyond horrifying. That poor Mother and Father. I cannot in my worst nightmare imagine what you or they are now going through. I don't think there is possibly a pain comparable to this loss... My prayers for all.
@@Dandeb19 My mother and aunt both died before 60 and my grandma is still alive so she had to live through losing both of her kids, it's not something I would wish on anyone.

the average cost of raising a child until 18 is ridiculous, and thats assuming you only get them what they require and you are essentially obligated to,like food and clothing.

I was thinking that same thing. I bet the driver has previous DWI. Such an awful thing. I hope the remaining child and the mother survive. I can't imagine how this mother will cope when she finds out two of her babies are gone😢
When a drunk driver gets caught, it’s definitely never their first time.
I’m sure she’s driven drunk in the past but apparently this is her first time being charged for drunk driving. Her lawyer stated at her arraignment that she’s never had a criminal record and not even a speeding ticket.

"Tragedies" are typically inevitable (think hurricanes or earthquakes). This was an avoidable incident caused by a selfish, criminal and irresponsible woman who chose to drive her car while drunk.

Because the laws;
1) Are Inconsistent.
And
2) NOT severe enough.
Example; In some countries, (Like Germany) the penalty for Drinking & Driving is your License being Revoked PERMANENTLY. As in FOREVER!!
Guess HOW many people, Drink & Drive.
And this is a place, where you can purchase beer, from a vending machine …… or With a #2 ….. (a Big Mac, or a Whopper).
That’s right. Because, passengers CAN drink alcohol 🍺 …… just NOT the Driver.
And the LAWS, are consistent (All across the country).
Therefore, it works.
*This idea, that people have of locking SOME folks up (for life) and slapping others on the wrist, or if you have enough money (for a good attorney) or maybe …. You’re a Senator. You see where I’m going ….. folks will NEVER get a clue! There is a country (No Joke) in the Middle East, where if you steal (theft) ….. no court, no attorneys, the ruling for Everyone is your Right hand CUT OFF. In this same country, they “eat” with their “right” 🤚 hand. And consequently …… they wipe their Behinds …… with their “left” hand’s🖐️
To say the least, theft is VERY low. You would think, it would be ZERO, but it is a poor country.
My point is, consistency is what drives criminal behavior down, along with HARSH penalties. Too harsh, or unrighteous judgement, will cause uprisings.

Because drunk drivers get away with it so often that they think they will not be in any serious accident, or that if they do crash they will be ok because they were ok in previous crashes. The problem is for all of us is that their luck will eventually run out and then an awful accident occurs killing innocent people. It’s ultimately an act of pure hubris.
Make an example, drinking and driving should result in life in prison without possibility of parole, no exceptions. Doesnt matter if your a stupid 16 year old or a braindead senior.

Death causes by drunk driving is tantamount to murder, in my view. You deliberately put people at risk whenever you choose to drink and drive. Sometimes an accident is caused by deliberate carelessness. You ultimately chose to risk lives.

Uber is very inconsistent and unreliable in certain areas. Not saying it’s any excuse to drive hammered though.

@@acc4465 I lived right outside of Boston for a while and Uber is consistent and reliable so I’d always just Uber places or take a bus/train if I knew I was gonna be drinking. Moved up north and there’s a major lack of public transportation and Uber is insanely inconsistent. I’ve often ubered places and then I just can’t find one to get back
My siblings and I are all in our 60s (69, 67, 64, 62, and 60). We are all perfectly competent, working people who don’t have awareness issues, or such. So for those of you younger people might sympathize with the driver because of her age, PLEASE DONT.
Unless we find out she had mitigating circumstances, imagine her being 35 and doing this. Same thing. 66 may seem old, but the circle of people I know in their 60’s are perfectly able drivers and should be held to every standard a 35 year old would be in a similar situation.
I’m just saying, there will be some people saying “Well, she was old…” at her trial…

Nope according to her attorney she has a spotless record. Others say she does have a substance abuse problem tho.
I don't get it. Even if you're completely wasted, you don't just drive a million miles an hour into the side of a barn without meaning to. I doubt she was passed out because the car kept a straight line for so long on a bumpy dirt road

What do you mean straight line she was in a four wheel drift coming off the pavement to get where she ended up at. Take a good look. I do construction and that steel sheeting wouldn't stop a motorcycle at speed.
She also went between the 4x6 post nothing of that building slowed her down.

These kids all go to school with my chidlren,My sister in law was Supposed to be at this party. I think god they didn't go. But I also can't help but to more in the loss of these 2 beautiful children.This is really affected our community. We just live in a small town in michigan, And I hope the woman who did this rots for the rest of her life, The worst part that the news didn't mention is.The mother still doesn't know that her two youngest babies are no longer with us.

And to think when a person gets arrested for dui, it's not a criminal offense. it's a misdemeanor traffic offense, and their released the same day. Drunk drivers kill people, and they consider it a traffic offense? If dui's were considered a felony and penalties were harsher, people wouldn't be so quick to get behind the wheel after drinking. My prayers go out to the family of these 2 innocent children who lost their lives because of a 66 year old drunk who should be locked up for the rest of her life.

We need to stiffen up Dui you lose your drvers license for 2 years for first offense. Second offense lose license for life. If caught again driving without license 7 years prison. No judge no jurry. Go to prision. No more slaps on pitty patty paws. PRISON 7 YEARS

In 2016 I saw a lady come out of a liquor store walking funny. She got in her car and left.
I was mad I was too far to call in her plate and car model.

That’s alcohol for sure, possibly deliberate. A stoned driver would have been driving 1/2 the speed limit terrified at hitting anything.
