- The aunt of an 8-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy spoke at the arraignment of a woman, 66, who allegedly drove into a child's birthday party in Michigan, killing the two siblings and injuring several others on Saturday, officials said.
The woman has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, and four counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, prosecutors said.

Heartbreaking…drunk drivers should get charged with 1st degree murder when this happens!

Agree 100%. But until the sentencing guidelines are changed this individual will get maybe twenty years and eligible for parole after 5. She is being held on 1.5 million bail. So if she comes up with 10 percent she will be back on the streets. Sickening.

No, they shouldn't. The woman didn't drive into the home to kill those children on purpose. You can't just convict people of premeditated murder when they clearly didn't have those intentions. Do I agree the woman should be charged with 2 counts of 3rd degree murder, 2 counts of vehicular manslaughter, 2 counts of aggravated assault by vehicle, and go to prison for decades? You bet your ass I do.
@@jacklarue7049 all I stated is that if people call for sentencing more the guidelines then have them changed. She made a conscious decision to drink to the point of driving without regard to human safety. Hell people killing while texting and driving get a slap on the wrist. When an individual makes a conscious decision act that ends with the loss of life should be looked at in a different light. Just my opinion.
I don’t even know these kids, but this aunt talking, legit made me cry for those kids. We gotta take dui’s more seriously.

..the ones who adhere to the rules. If you can't drink responsibly and have a designated driver or a taxi etc...than you shouldn't drink.

@@sherriebent2555yeah but you can still keep your license, walk free and buy alcohol with a DUI on your record. Offenders with multiple DUIs rarely get more than a slap on the wrist until someone dies

What I want is more education for people on the absolutely devastating effects of alcohol and for brewing companies to acknowledge the dangers. They make so much money, they should be required to pay into a fund that educates people on alcohol like they do with nicotine. Things are just crazy right now.

Reminds me of Football Coach Reeves. His Son was drinking & driving fast. He hit another, that I believe was parked? Not sure. The little girl sustained serious head injuries. She will never be the same. The coach's son, has had this happen before. I being in severe charges should happen. I think personally, he should get a minimum of 30 years. The disgusting part of this, he'll probably serve maybe 5 yes. Because, he's the son of a famous Coach. It's scary to think, he probably will do it again.😢

I was an EMT and level one trauma tech and you never tell someone who just came off a ventilator that they lost two of three kids!!
It was absolutely tragic that this incident even occurred!
Those kids never even truly got to live yet!

I thought the same. The Aunt obviously didn't tell the staff she was going to do this. I don't know any health professional who would want this to be told to a person in a critical medical state. It's common sense

I’m a nurse. I was on my way to work the evening shift. It was winter time. Three people were out joy riding in the country drinking and driving. I was in an S-10 pick up truck. They didn’t stop but toned me. My truck flipped two times I was thrown out 65 feet, I should’ve died but I didn’t but I have suffered for 20 years with chronic pain. I had to give up my job as a nurse and go on disability that drunk driver, which was a woman ruined my life forever. I understand your pain. I hope she gets behind bars for life, I’m so sorry for your loss. They didn’t deserve that.. please people do not drink and drive!
With all due respect, the court should ask the mother if she wants to make an impact statement. I appreciate the aunt’s statement. However, there’s nothing like a mother’s love and she deserves to have her voice and heart heard. If I were the judge I would put the sentencing on hold and have the mother asked if she wants to speak. The driver needs to live with the the devastating emotions the mother would express.

I lost my husband and three yr old in 1998. To a drunk deacon with a judge as a father. I wraps seriously injured and had four other kids including a 5 months old!
We did not sue him, too busy with the tragedy!
Karma took it all, yall!
And she waited yrs to do so.
In 2021 his youngest died from drug over does a few months after his wife was arrested for stealing drugs from the pharmacy at the hospital she worked at. A yr to the day his eldest son hunt himself in their back yard.

The real misery here is that there can be no restitution. There is no way to fix this. What was taken can never be replaced. Even if the perpetrator spends the rest on her life in prison, or there is monetary compensation, the children still aren't coming back.

Absolutely heartbreaking! As an adult child of an alcoholic ~ I am glad my mother never got a car, or a license. Tragic loss for this family and there are no words that can help. Prayer can. As for the driver who CHOSE to get behind the wheel~ this will never go away, and I pray you are not able to drink away the pain because you deserve to feel it, not numb with alcohol. It’s 2024 and no one has come up with a solution for this problem that kills more than we know.
