  • After a brief online exchange with some people who commented on my social media post about the Tulsa Race Massacre, I’ve decided to address the process of healing from generational trauma. What does that look like? How easy (or difficult) is it to know the right time to move on?

Comments on comments on comments. The backbone of social media.
What struck me most about the Tulsa massacre was how hard it was to find out about it. I learned it from watching an HBO adaptation of a comic book, the watchmen. I had to Google it to see if the scenes in the opener were for real or not cuz they seemed as fantastic as the rest of the superhero crap. I believe it's still the only time there has been a bomb dropped from a plane on American soil.

It's unfortunate that this person seems intentionally ignorant. How ever can one heal if no one is listening to the problem? Then what happens is, self healing, which never happens or takes forever! Many races have gone through some form of oppression, and it is compassion that is lacking for us to just listen. What's funny is that 8n turn, you are expected to be empathetic to others. Feel what you want to feel and don't let people like that tell you otherwise or silence you for it. 💚 You can educate people, but it's up to their own capacity to absorb the knowledge. And it is crazy how terrible acts of Asian prejudice in American history are unheard of.

Does anyone else raised in the USA have Filipino parents who refuse to speak the language?

I have heard that this was the case for many Filipinos and Filipino-Americans raised in the US, yes. In my experience, I wouldn’t say my parents necessarily refused to speak the language. They just found it easier (and thought it more beneficial) to only speak English. What about you?
