- I test rode the Moto Morini X-cape over 2 days and did 100 miles.
00:00 Introduction and leaving the dealership
04:44 On the open road
08:47 All the tech specification stuff....how to switch off the rear ABS and have some fun.
21:19 Off road(kind of) rear ABS switched off
25:17 In conclusion...my thoughts .
It's a mid sized adventure bike that will put a smile on your face.
There is no traction control or rider modes ie rain road etc, but it doesn't need it. Sometimes less is more.
The engine is from the Chinese motorcycle company , CF Moto .
With 3 years warranty and a great price, with quality parts, what's not to like.
Go to your dealer and take one for a test ride, you may be pleasantly surprised .

UPDATE 2/2/23
A viewer who has one in the UK, says that you can get the alloy wheels and not have the spoked wheels. I guess check with your dealer . Thanks Dave👍 - Zábava
Have the grey one. Just did 1000 km before winter storage. Can't wait to bring it about for new rides in 2023. Love the looks, ride, sound and tft. Got it as a replacement for the Himalayan. Never looked back.
yes its a great bike. enjoy 2023 👍
Interesting. I’m thinking of replacing my Himalayan for one of these.
I also sold my Himalayan and am looking this direction. Just too many quality control issues with the himi.
I'm really getting fond of this bike, it looks really pretty, has some quality peripherals and a well established engine; it actually feels more Transalp, than the real Transalp. Man, you do buy a whole lot of bike with this price.
Yes its a great bike for the price. Most people that try it are really impressed like I was.
Yes I have just bought one a lot of bike for the money 😁😁👍
@@thomasclarke4223 I really enjoyed it . So well balanced too 👍
So glad to see someone doing reviews in Jersey, it really is helpful as I live on guernsey and you have given us a taste of what it’s like to live with in island life. Big thumbs up 👍
Hello fellow islander . Thanks appreciate the comment . Off to the Normandy landing beaches next week and we have actually given permission for one of your islanders to join us ! What is the world coming to🙈
@@gsd32i 😂😂
That's a good looking bike. Quite like it. I did read once that some Japanese manufacturers engines are made in China anyways. I think it was the Suzuki sv650 engine and possibly the Kawasaki variant of this engine
Love jersey👍
Thanks for the great review!
Glad it was helpful!
At 6K, now 2023, is a fantastic bike. The only minus..is heavy !
I have not yet ridden the motorcycle, but only sat on it. At a trade fair. I was surprised by the weight (too heavy or say quite heavy) and the low seat height (am 190 cm myself). Seat position is visually higher than actually. The engine as a copy of the Kawa engine is for sure ok, but 60HP is not much for the weight. Visually a prima bike - also the dash looks great. Problem is for sure the thin dealer network (at least in continental Europe) and available accessories. And who knows how it goes on with the manufacturer - and many thanks sharing your thoughts...
At least CFMOTO should be able to service the bike 🤷🏽♂
CF Moto's Chinese suppliers actually manufactured the engine for Kawasaki and are allowed to use them under licence . Some of BMW's machines ( smaller capacity bikes ) and a lot of the KTM range use Chinese engines .
Thanks for the comment . I enjoyed riding that bike , they have a 1200 in the pipeline .
CF Moto also makes the KTM 790 engine and is used in the CF Moto 800 MT adventure bike. Better bike in my opinion. I bought the X-Cape 2 months ago.
@@DjVendettaMany Riders tell that the cf 800mt got often a micro fail in acceleration. Should caused by a bad maping.
Great looking bike!
Looks nice but I think I'd be more interested in the 1200 version when that's released!
Its certainly a beauty.
Beautiful bike and most likely reliable a good budget option for the beginner
Why the beginner?
@@andrewfurniss8944 because resale is going to be low and sooner or later they are Gona want to upgrade, also in some countries like this one beginners are limited to 650 cc and under .infact there are some second hand ones floating around already so best just get one of those
I am intrigued why a 'software update' takes 4 hours (the quote I have been given for mine) - what are they actually doing, I wonder. Keep up the good work with the channel - just swapped my 2020 GS for a Triple Black with gold wheels. I wonder where I got that idea from ;-)
Hi Rob, its' a full update . The BMW system is one in which the technician plugs it into the bike and then walks away so they can do other work, slow update possibly means less chance of coding errors??. It's BMW say no more ! Enjoy the Gold wheels.
The slow "processing please wait...." on vehicles and some other devices is usually down to them just having old generation chips which are slower and cheaper to buy.
@@gsd32i An explanation from someone who knows - "Main reason is the connection and communication between BMW’s ‘tester’ hardware and the server in Germany. I don’t know all the details but as with other brands, the software and data that is programmed onto the bike comes directly from BMW and isn’t in a local file. For dependency and all kinds of sanity checks, baud rates are pretty low and sometimes for security there is a time delay between the request and approval for programming. 4 hours sounds long, but not completely out of the ordinary."
What would you say is the better faster / torquer bike the CB 500 x or the moto morini
Hi . I haven’t ridden the CB 500 so unfair to make a comment . The X-Cape though was one of the sweetest handling bikes I have ridden , really enjoyed it . Yes it could do with a bit more power but certainly fine in the real world 👍
was there any heat coming from the pipes to your right leg?
Hi, none that I recall. Really nice bike, made even better with that price. Unsurprisingly the demo I rode has now been sold.🤪
Using the 'less is more' mantra, would you consider it as a gs alternative?
I would consider it as a bike that I would have in my garage . Everyone has a budget and you get a huge amount of stuff for this price. It rode better than my GS , when going slow, beautifully balanced . I would miss the power of the GS and as I am an older chap at 57 !!! I am now at the age where I could afford to tick the GS itch. Take one out...brilliant bike in my humble opinion.
Nice review, how's the on/off throttle feel?
One of the nicest bikes I have ridden, very good throttle etc.
I'm considering this has anyone experienced alot of heat from the right side during idling in traffic?
did you leave the GS for the recall that was issued by bmw?
Yes, the gearbox update on the software . left it with the dealer most of the day as it was a full software update.
@@gsd32i cool! mine will get sorted when I go in for the scheduled maintenance. It's not that big of a deal since I don't do hard enduro with it (rear wheel doesn't leave the ground 🩼)
@@sunnycloudy1337 mine leaves the ground most days….. when input it on the centre stand . Had a new quickshifter fitted which was why it went in to start with .
@@gsd32i true, the rear wheel does leave the ground on center stand but it doesn't spin at 5000 rpm 😬 The recall issue is when you are jumping, creating a rear wheel lift off with it spinning very fast and then landing which broke the connecting rod in the gearbox. New QS? how so? what happened to the old one?
235 kilos fulled?damn...
Try one. It really is a lovely bike to ride. I would say one of the best handling bikes of that style that I have ridden all year. Ride safe.
It lacks at about 10 hp and 10 nm from the old er6-f, that's not a little.,.
Who let the wolves out😮
but it looks oldscool. Sounded indeed like Versys.
Does sound like the Versys, but it does look nice IMHO.You should try one out , handles really nicely .
Eight valves total, not per cyl.
Slip of the tongue 🙈
Steamed up glasses is a real pain.
Yes they are !!!🤬
Cast wheel option is availble for UK market £6,999 OK 😁🖕
Don't shoot me.......I can only go on what I was told. Thanks for the information 👍 cracking machine . Is that wheel option available on the 2023 ones too?
@@gsd32i Sure is 👍Just fitting Oxford heated grips/Sat Nav prep/ driving lights to mine !! Great second bike to my R1250GS Rallye.. which I use mainly for touring abroad two up, but will use the X Cape for everthing else, and go touring solo. Cheers, great video esp info on how to access turning off rear ABS 👍👍
@@davidwilson6245 😂I wasn't going to let the abs thing beat me...I found 1, 30 second poor quality video on CZcams . I will update the description ref wheels then. Just had the gearbox software update done and jumping back on the big gs made me appreciate how well the x cape handled , lovely bike....my wife would kill me though !!!!
@@davidwilson6245 you should start recording your adventures so I could watch them! Riding abroad has always been my dream, just not quite there yet lol. Safe travels to you!
