Alan Thompson was a fantastic footballer. A key member of one of the best Celtic teams of all time. The 2003/ 04 team was different class.

Was in the Celtic end and he did a mad trick and I looked at my mate and said that I had to watch the highlights that night as I just didn’t know what he did, it was that fast.

Alan Thompson and that Celtic squad were the biggest crush I had as teenager. They gave me so many happy memories and really grew the club. I remember going to school and seeing so many Celtic shirts. It was amazing 👏 😍

Some great memories relived through Thommo he was a fantastic player for us scored a few screamers too the stand_ out goal for me was the 1 at Ibrox when he hit a 20+yarder & the ball hit the underside of the bar that Seville team was something else as James said they were all born winners

Thompson was my favourite player. I loved Larrson but Thompson's battles in the middle of the park and his goals against the huns were memorable. The stories about Ricksen and the pitbull turning up to his door and the fireworks through the letterbox were fab. Thommo Legend.

2001-2005/6 was the greatest for Scottish fitba in the modern era, not just Celtic and Rangers. Hibs, Hearts, Dundee all had great teams too.

I was the same playing gaa football at a good level in Ireland I always got sick before a game with nerves, always played well and think the lads always knew I meant business when they seen me puking my ring up, could eat nothing and still be getting sick before a game

Not fair or accurate for him to say he never got england recognition because he was playing in scotland, I'm villa and he was playing for us in his prime years and whilst he was good on his day, 'his day' very rarely came around and he was never more than a bit part player for us in a team that didn't have too many world beaters.
