The BBC guy was really trying to bait her into saying something anti-Hindu but she avoided that masterfully. Well done! As an Indian, we’d love for you (not that it needs anyone’s permission) to set up in India one day. The only critique would be that British Indian food when compared to actual Indian food sucks a*s, so you’d have to readjust your cooking for the local palette 😂

To be an Indian, you don't need any valudation.
However, Muslims in India in 1947 started to claim themselves as "a separate nation". In Calcutta ( Kolkata) they started their Jihad for separation.
So this legitimate question will and should always be posed to them not just by British even by Hindus and other communities of India. All those commenting presume as if Pakistan didn't happen. It was carved out of North America.

Work relentlessly on building a separate identity from the rest of India. Promote one specific language, attire to emphasis the separate identity while enjoying separate civil laws based on Sharia which no liberal country allows. Say that the religion comes before nationality. Promote the idea that anything indigenous like Yoga, Ayurveda or any classical dances must not be practiced cause they are "gair mazhabi". And when the other communities agree with you and say "You are different". Then whine that we "feel unwanted".

I applaud her for making her dream come true. I’m all for women’s equality etc. That said, several things bother me about this interview. First the typical interviewer trying to divert her and insinuate things that are not true. Click bait caption is another. Then Asma saying that India hasn’t changed! I’m sorry but I’m older than her, my father insisted that all his daughters to get at least an undergrad degree before marriage. India she’s referring to is a microcosm of a much larger, changed India. India is not a monolithic country; every state, community is different. Now parents are mortgaging their homes so their daughter can study abroad or get her chess lessons to compete internationally and on and on. It doesn’t help for people perpetuate this type of mentality that India hasn’t changed! Perhaps the Muslim community in Calcutta hasn’t but most of India has changed by leaps and bounds!!! Everyone in America even knows it! This guy needs to visit India now and see what women are accomplishing (or have accomplished thus far). Ironically, I’m helping to put together a huge event in America to show case Indian women and their accomplishments (from centuries past as well as current). Dear Asma shout out the largest hurrah for you. Discrimination against women in India is so painful especially since it comes from their own fathers and mothers who identify with the father against their own daughters since they do not have an identity of their own. India is truly great in so many ways but discrimination against girl babies by their own parents is equally truly India's greatest shame.

    Love the word "my land"?
Brits and western world must get theirselves right india is so big that cannot be fitted in their so called western perspective.
It is land of enormous possibilities that cannot be even imagined by the so called confined western society. We are not europe or America for better or worse we are bhartiya(indian) we are all united in senses we don't even know.
Now its time bharatwasis must step up and defend it.
Diversity is not a problem of this land as they(western) think it is its is the soul of the land. We are behind by materialy but not intellectually.

It is the diversity and different idoelogy that divided this nation in
1947. If someone is pretending as if everything is fine he or she is fooling themselves.
Europe is experiencing the perils of accomodating incompatible diversity and different ideology now.
It is Just a matter of time. Indications are already visible.

This lady is not only confused but has a big chip on her shoulder - I don't think she can ever get over her hate of male dominated society even if it changes completely.
She is also confused. On one hand, she bashes the UK, a country that has given her so much and where she has flowered. On the other hand, she also bashes her home country she yet plans to come back here!
Grow up lady. Life is not always a bed of roses. Love is unfair. Life is imperfect. But life is beautiful too. Learn to enjoy the positives and get over the negatives without letting those spoil your happiness.
