    I love my X-H2S. One huge plus that I don't think you mentioned is that the super fast stacked sensor readout means negligible rolling shutter artifacts, even doing the occasional whip-pan. This makes it a great camera for filming action sequences and for handheld shooting in general. Coming from the Sony a6300 which has some of the worst rolling shutter in the industry, this is a huge luxury!

    Thanks for this great review. I'm a long-time Fuji shooter and the H2s are the best! I see reviews like yours, and I'm amazed that some think the XH2 or T5 is better for photography. The S is great for wildlife and sports. Shooting 40fps tracking a BIF is incredible. Combined with bird/eye detection, it is a game changer.

    X-E4 is what I have. I was considering X-T5. However, I am now considering X-H2S because of the faster autofocus, smaller MP, and the internal Prores. However, I do not like the flippy screen. In fact, I feel like Fuji f's with the customer base when they bring out the flippy because they do tilt on the next iteration and I have have that one. Just look at X-T5, perfect tilt screen! Great video.

    Great video! I tested both and honestly I liked the S better for both stills and video. I was leaning toward the XH2 since I am primarily a portrait photographer but now im rethinking it because I think the faster af and better video performance (when I need it) makes more sense practically speaking.

      That is a tough one but i think if you are really focused on portrait it makes much more sense to do the higher megapixel sensor. Personally for my portrait work I like to go in and fine tune every single detail.

    00:56 - you're right, Full Frame is not always more cinematic. I also wanna add that huge background blur is overrated and not necessarily 'cinematic'. Framing, composition, lighting and motion are far more important for the cinematic look and feel in my opinion.

    Excellent review and once again, expertly explained in a manner which is both technical enough but also easy to understand relating to the various aspects.. helping one to decide what is most suitable for your own needs. A quick note.. isn’t it possible possible to record ProRes RAW with the XT-5 to an external recorder such as an Atomos Ninja V+ I believe. Without memorizing the other small differences in video mode perhaps this might be the answer for those who really want the best of both worlds i.e. 40 megapixel and ProRes. Can the XT-5 also do 4:3 for Vertical/Instagram format?
    Thx and regards

      It is becourse the Xh2 is the photography camera.
      Just becourse xh2s have a stacked sensor, does not make it better than XH2.
      Infact I dont get why people would choose the S version over Xh2. The only difference are the readout time are better on the S, while the XH2 have more pixels. Else same processor, construction. Who needs 40 pictures per second when you only do photography.

      @@castielvargastv7931 Does not matter, it is still better to have more crop factor. Waaaaay more versatile. To me Xh2s a hype over something you would hardly never use. you dont shoot 40pic per second in most types of photography. Its very few cases that would make somekind of sense. I would say you can do 20 pics per second 99% of photography. That one stop is hardly a problem, nothing you cant solve in the setting of the camera.

    • @flyingfox2005
      @flyingfox2005 Před rokem

      Using anamorphic lenses will increase the perceived rolling shutter effect. So using a 2x squeeze on a camera with a 10ms rolling shutter will stretch the image, doubling the skew effect. The train shot would look a lot better shooting on a spherical lens.

    Very helpful video. Thanks for the review. I'm leaning towards the xt5 because I'm 90% photography. I.almost wish there was a xt5s which brought the auto focus speed and accuracy to a more photo centered camera. Also, I don't really need 40 MP. Smaller files would be fine.

The best part of the new Fuji equipment releases for me was the large number of lenses that have gone for sale on the used market. I was able to get two lenses I didn't think I'd be able to afford for a long time recently; the XF56mm V1.0 and the XF90mm. I got both at great prices and both are like new. Super cool!!! Larger sensors DON'T capture more light. A larger sensor at the same Tstop captures exactly the same light as a S35 sensor at the same Tstop.
    "Some" larger sensors can be more sensitive... but that is by no means not a hard and fast rule.
    Also larger sensors don't automatically capture more detail and colour information... plenty don't.
    Until the last few years most FF / 135 sensors only captured 8bit 420... whereas many S35 sensors could capture 10but 422. The size of the sensor has nothing to do with the amount of detail or colour information... that is down to the quality of the specific sensor (whatever the size) and the processing within the camera.
